After His Amnesia, I Severed Our Mate Bond Chapter 04

After His Amnesia, I Severed Our Mate Bond Chapter 04

I went straight to my childhood friend Zhuri’s den–she’s the pack’s legal advisor–and dropped onto her couch like a sack of bricks Her eyes widened as I spilled the tea.

“Wait, you’re leaving the Alpha?” Zhuri stared at me like I’d just announced I was joining a circus. “You two were the ultimate power couple. What the hell happened?”

I sipped my coffee, the bitterness hitting just right. “He broke the bond. His so–called ‘first love,‘ Zayla, showed up after severing her own mate tie, and now he’s all in on her.”

Zhuri’s brows furrowed. “And his parents are cool with this?”

I snorted. “Mara, the former Luna, and her mate have been comparing me to Zayla since forever. She’s from some ‘prestigious‘ family, supposedly made it big abroad, and is just *so* sweet. They’ve always thought she was better than me. Now? They’re probably throwing a party.”

Zhuri yanked the coffee cup from my hand. “Hold up. Aren’t you pregnant? Should you even be drinking that?”

I tilted my head, my expression icy. “Who said I’m keeping it? Ever since he ran off with Zayla on their little love fest, I’ve decided I’m done. Evander’s tainted, and I don’t want anything tied to him–not even a pup with his DNA.”

I snatched the coffee back and took another defiant sip. “Look, I don’t have time for this. Help me draft a separation agreement ASAP. I

want to gut him while I can leave him with nothing.”

Zhuri sighed, giving me a long look. “If you’re serious, I won’t stop you. No point fixing a bond that’s already shattered. Let’s get to work.”

We spent the entire day in her den, hammering out the details with two other advisors. By nine PM, I walked into my house, the freshly printed papers in hand.

The scene that greeted me? A dining table covered in leftovers. Evander and Zayla glanced up like I’d just interrupted their cozy dinner

date.

“You didn’t mind–link to say you’d be late,” Evander said, his tone casual, like this was any normal night.

I scrolled through my messages, deadpan. “You didn’t mind–link to ask either.”

Zayla chuckled nervously, trying to smooth things over. “Come on, mates can work things out with a chat. Why don’t you two talk? I’ll head out. Alpha, dinner was amazing. See ya!”

I raised an eyebrow, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “You cook now?”

I stepped closer, taking in the mess. Four dishes and a soup. Impressive for someone who’d always claimed he couldn’t boil water.

Evander nodded, smug. “Yeah, I’ve always known how to cook. Did I never cook for you? That’s weird. I used to whip up meals for Zayla all the time.”

I laughed, the sound hollow. So, all those years as his Luna, his ‘can’t cook‘ act was just that—an act.

“Got it. You don’t love me anymore; you’re all about Zayla now.”

I walked over to the sofa, sat down, and slid the separation agreement across the table.

“Read it. If you’re good with it, sign. I’ll make your little love story happen. I’ve been a stay–at–home Luna with zero savings, so how about you walk away with nothing? I’m sure Zayla’s loaded family won’t miss a few properties, right?”

Evander barely hesitated. He flipped through the pages, then signed without a word.

“I’m sorry, but since I can’t remember you, there’s no way to fix this. I’ll agree to your terms.”

I smiled as I gathered the papers. “We’ll meet the pack’s scribe tomorrow. This den’s in your parents‘ name anyway. I won’t stay here tonight. Let’s meet at the scribe’s den in the morning.”

With a wave, I walked out of the den I’d called home for years.

“I’m not taking anything. It’s all junk. Toss it if you want.”

It wasn’t until I climbed into a cab that I finally let out a laugh.

This was way too easy.

Turns out, I’ve been running a side hustle and investing for years. I was planning to surprise Evander by buying that massive open–plan

den he always wanted. But, surprise–the bond ended before I could save up enough.

I wonder, when Evander finds out Zayla’s family is bankrupt, will he still be so chill? And when his parents learn Zayla never worked abroad, never earned her rank—just leeched off her foreign ex–mate–will they still think she’s so perfect?

In their eyes, Zayla was this extraordinary wolf. In reality? She’s just trash.

I get why she’s scrambling, though. She needed someone rich back here, and Evander was the perfect mark. That’s why she rushed to sever our bond.

Trash belongs in the dumpster, and Zayla picked up Evander–the human equivalent of garbage–perfectly.
