They Called Me The Mistress, Until My Mafia Family Arrived Chapter 07

News of the Kensington family’s complete downfall spread throughout Havenport before dawn.

The once-mighty richest man saw his fortune wiped out overnight and was left deeply in debt.

The head of the Kensington family was taken in for questioning on suspicion of multiple economic crimes.

Meanwhile, Jewel and Ryan were thrown straight into the most remote, abandoned warehouse in Havenport by Rhett’s men.

I didn’t go back to New York with my older siblings.

I was going to settle this score myself.

The abandoned warehouse was filled with the stench of mold.

Jewel was tied to a chair, her hair disheveled and her cheeks swollen; there was not a trace left of the arrogance of the wealthy heiress of Havenport.

Ryan was curled up in a corner, covered in wounds.

“Miss Kensington.”

I looked down at her from above.

“Didn’t you say that in Havenport, you can even put a price on a life?”

“Now, what will you use to buy your own life?”

Jewel looked at me in terror and struggled desperately.

“Mia Lancaster! Let me go! I know I was wrong!”

“It was all that bastard Ryan who tricked me! I was duped!”

“Please, be magnanimous and spare me!”

I let out a cold laugh.

“Duped?”

“How many times did I explain? How many times did I beg you?”

“When Evan was about to go into shock, you took his medicine away and smashed his oxygen pump.”

“Did you have even the slightest shred of compassion back then?”

I suddenly raised my hand.

Smack!

A slap delivered with all my might struck her across the face.

I pulled my hand back and wiped my fingers with a wet wipe.

“I wouldn’t even dirty my hands hitting you.”

I turned my head and looked at Ryan in the corner.

When he caught my eye, he shuddered and crawled over to my feet.

“Mia! It’s all my fault!”

“I shouldn’t have framed you just to protect Jewel!”

“Please beg Don to spare my life!”

I kicked him away.

“Spare your life?”

“Do you know that Evan’s defibrillator nearly burned out his cardiac nerves because of the strong magnetic interference?”

“For your own gain, you pushed an innocent person toward death.”

“People like you are worse than dogs.”

Clara held a document in her hand and tossed it in front of Ryan.

“Mr. Kensington, here is your indictment.”

“Attempted murder, embezzlement, and forgery of commercial documents.”

“With all these charges combined, you’ll be locked up for the rest of your life.”

“As for your true love, May Kensington…”

Clara gave a cold smile.

“She’s been sleeping with a few bigwigs, and now one of the wives has broken her legs and she’s in the hospital. She’s got her own problems to deal with, so I doubt she’ll have time to visit you in jail.”

Ryan collapsed completely to the ground, his eyes vacant.

Jewel suddenly burst into a fit of maniacal laughter.

“Hahaha! Karma! It’s all karma!”

She laughed so hard tears streamed down her face; she looked like a

madwoman.

“Send her to a mental hospital.”

I spoke in a calm tone.

“Since she thinks everyone else is a fool, let her spend time with real madmen.”

“Never let her out.”

Clara nodded and motioned for the bodyguards to drag the two of them away.

“Mia, come on, it’s time to go home.”

“Evan’s awake and has been looking for you.”

The moment I heard the name “Evan,” all the coldness and hostility within me vanished instantly.

I took a deep breath and turned to walk out of the musty warehouse.

It was sunny outside.

A black private helicopter was already parked on the open field, waiting.

I hurried onto the helicopter.

Next, I was going to see the person who meant the most to me.
