A homemaker betrayed by both family and spouse-clickbait gold. The story trended all day; no one believed Leon’s denials.

The company’s stock plunged, and Isabelle was suspended from the dance academy.

I’d already moved into Grace’s place, curled on her couch, admiring my handiwork online.

The Walkers were surely spinning in circles by then.

Unable to find me, they bombarded my phone with calls and nasty messages, blaming me for wrecking their lives.

I skimmed Linda’s text wishing me dead and felt nothing.

Then, I rang Leon.

He answered, livid. “Elena! Our stock is tanking because of you. Tell the press this is your split-personality delusion, or I’ll never forgive you!”

Even now, he thought a few threats would make me beg.

“If you’ve got time to yell, maybe check whose baby Isabelle’s carrying.

Silence on the line.

A beat later, he exploded. “Stop smearing her! I don’t believe you.”

“I’ve emailed you a video,” I said softly. “Watch it before you end up an unpaid step-dad.”

With that, I hung up.

While digging for evidence of Leon and Isabelle’s affair, I discovered Isabelle’s baby belonged to her rich ex.

Her childhood dream was a luxury marriage, so she majored in the arts, where most rich kids were, and dated plenty of heirs.

The ex she chose outranked Leon by miles, but dumped her for a business alliance.

She settled for Leon, then plotted pregnancy when the playboy circled back. However, the man ignored her, so Leon became the fallback groom.

Leon opened the link. In the video, the usually “pure” girl was flushed and teasing a man. The attached prenatal form showed six months, which didn’t match their time of intimacy at all.

In shock, he crushed his glass, unaware his palm bled.

The crash brought Isabelle downstairs. “Leon, what happened? Is the company worse?”

Unexpectedly, Leon hurled the tablet at her face.

Isabelle went ghost-white at the contents.

“Ten minutes. Get out.”

Hand on her cheek, she glared in disbelief. “You hit me?” She snarled. “Don’t crawl back later!”

With Leon about to go under, breaking up saved her the trouble.

When Isabelle left, the Walker family came to pick her up. Linda hugged her. “That penniless nobody never deserved my precious girl. Leon dared to strike you? The Walkers aren’t dead yet!”

Marcus, fists clenched, charged forward-only to bump into me.

“What are you doing here?”

Isabelle’s eyes dripped venom. “Don’t think you’ve won. Leon will go bankrupt, and you’ll still be beneath me.”

I laughed and slapped her. “Interest on what you stole. I’ll reclaim everything.”

Her cheek ballooned instantly.

“Have you lost it again?” Marcus shielded her. “Isabelle always gives way to you. Why be so cruel?”

“Cruel? Absolutely,” I said, offering no more.

Tears welled in Isabelle’s eyes. “I left Leon, Elena. Why humiliate me?”

“Humiliate you? I’m not that bored.” I glanced over them. “I’m here so you know the truth.”

I opened a file containing proof that Isabelle gambled away the Walker family’s funds and forged medical

reports.
