I Returned the Heart, but the Wolf King Gave Me His Chapter 06

I Returned the Heart, but the Wolf King Gave Me His Chapter 06

Patricia’s pov

“My friend-the pack doctor’s assistant-told me. What you had done was an abortion. Not a heart removal surgery at all.”

“How could you secretly abort Alpha Michael’s child?”

“That was Alpha blood!”

Mary’s grip on my hand tightened with every word.

Alpha Michael’s voice dropped, low and disbelieving.

“Patricia Moore. You really aborted it?”

“Who the hell gave you the right?”

The right?

Alpha Michael’s own words from that day echoed in my head.

A bitter, mocking laugh escaped my lips.

“As a woman, I have always had the right to decide whether or not I give birth.”

“Alpha blood? So what? Any healthy woman can conceive a pup with Alpha blood.”

“Besides if I had carried this child to term, weren’t you planning to cut his heart out in front of

me anyway?”

Mary suddenly thrust her phone forward.

“Alpha Michael, look!”

“This is a photo of Patricia Moore at the hospital-getting the abortion!”

“And this one—this is her buying a counterfeit heart on the black market!”

Mary enlarged both photos.

I could tell at a glance that the second photo was doctored. A crude splice job.

But Alpha Michael didn’t question it for a second. Not a shred of the sharp Alpha judgment he was

supposed to have.

He gritted his teeth.

“Patricia Moore. So this is how you insult the Alpha bloodline? Passing off some black-market

heart of unknown origin?”

“You’ve got some nerve for an Omega.”

“You are finishing this challenge. Today.”

Alpha Michael turned and started hauling me toward the mountain bikes.

“You-all of you. Get her in the seat!”

They forced me into the car and locked me in the driver’s side.

“Alpha Michael, let me out!”

“Alpha Michael, that heart is really Elizabeth’s!”

I slammed the steering wheel, screaming. The call to the pack doctor-I’d redialed-finally

connected.

“Patricia Moore? Did you call because the artificial heart is giving you trouble?”

I shoved my phone toward Alpha Michael, desperate for him to hear.

But his expression was ice. He took a step back.

“Do it.”

The mountain bike was shoved to the edge of the hilltop. My phone slipped from my grasp and

landed at Alpha Michael’s feet.

The pack doctor’s voice crackled through the speaker, confused.

“Patricia Moore?”

“Are you okay?”

Alpha Michael didn’t even glance at it.

The bike shot down the slope.

I fought to keep control-hands clamped on the steering wheel, eyes locked on the path ahead.

Three kilometers from Elizabeth’s grave to the base of the mountain. I just had to make it three

kilometers.

I kept repeating it to myself. A mantra.

My fingers shook as I swerved around obstacle after obstacle.

Sweat dripped into my eyes, blurring everything.

The artificial heart in my chest kept beating. Steady. Mechanical. Calm.

Ten minutes later, I saw the familiar stretch of road. I slammed my foot down on the brake.

Nothing happened.

I froze. Even my heart-that heart that barely reacted to anything anymore-began to shudder.

The brakes were gone.
