Underboss’s Ex, Mafia’s Queen Chapter 06

Underboss’s Ex, Mafia’s Queen Chapter 06

“Your father? Have you forgotten? He only took the Lombardi name by marrying my mother. He can’t even protect himself, let alone you.”

Giselle went rigid. In that moment, she knew her life was utterly ruined.

Sebastian didn’t look at her again. She was nothing more than trash now-completely beneath his

notice.

“Escort her and her group off the premises. This hotel doesn’t want people like them here any longer.”

Security stepped forward immediately and dragged Giselle and the men, still wiping bourbon from their chins, out into the street.

Vincent was escorted out as well. At the door, he turned back and met my eyes.

I looked away immediately. One more glance would have made me sick.

“Lena.” Sebastian’s voice softened. He placed his hand on my shoulder and guided me toward the exit. “Your father phoned earlier. He’s waiting for you back at the estate. Come on, let’s head

home.”

Outside, Vincent was still standing there. Rain began to pour down once more, drenching the

sidewalk.

He opened his mouth, his voice thick.

“Lena… is it true? Are you really…?”

Sebastian didn’t let him finish.

“Mr. Romano.” His tone went cold. “You no longer have the right to speak her name. You should be worrying about the joint investigation the Moretti and Lombardi Families are launching into your operations. Crossing my fiancée comes with a price.”

And Sebastian never makes empty threats.

Within weeks, Giselle’s mother was arrested for grand larceny. The evidence was rock-solid. The Lombardi Family issued an official statement, disowning Giselle and freezing all her accounts. Overnight, the so-called mafia princess ended up penniless and homeless.

Vincent Romano’s outfit didn’t fare much better.

The Lombardis and Morettis moved in lockstep-cutting credit lines, pulling permits, tearing up contracts. The Romano Family’s funds dried up completely. Their dummy corporations folded

overnight. Mansions, cars, private clubs-every asset was seized by receivers.

In less than a month, Vincent went from Capo to bankrupt.

After he hit bottom, he showed up outside my building with a bouquet of roses.

“Lena,” he said, his voice hoarse. “I get it now. I was wrong. I had my reasons at the start-but somewhere along the way, I fell in love with you.”

“I swear, give me one more chance. I’ll prove it to you.”

I looked at him and laughed.

“Vincent, what exactly do you have left that could interest me?”

“You’re broke. You have nothing. After everything that’s happened, you still want us to get back together? Sorry, but the sight of you makes me sick.”

“If I’m marrying a Don, why would I ever look back at a disgraced Capo?”

He walked away with hollow eyes. For days after, he kept showing up with flowers. Then one

morning, he was gone.

Sebastian told me Giselle was pregnant. The child was his.

A few months later, deep in the basement of a run-down building in Brooklyn…

The ceiling leaked. The old radiator sputtered weakly, barely clinging to life.

“Vincent! You useless piece of trash! Where’s the delivery money from today? Rent’s due

tomorrow, or we’re out on the street!”

Giselle stood in the middle of the room, her pregnant belly straining against her loose hoodie.

Sweat matted her greasy hair to her forehead. Her face, once sharp with Botox and arrogance, had

sunken in-cheekbones jutting out too far, her eyes deep-set and vicious.

She ripped the delivery jacket off his shoulders before he could hang it up and dug through the pockets with her dirty nails.

“Cut the nagging already!”
