Cast Aside by My Mate, Crowned by the Lycan King Chapter 06

The next second, I slapped Brody hard across the face.

He stared at me, stunned.

“Do you think the mate bond is a joke?” I snapped. “You broke it like it meant nothing—just like you refused to mark me and chose to mark my foster sister instead. And now you dare show up acting proud of it?”

Removing a mate mark was incredibly dangerous. One small mistake and it could be fatal. Most werewolves would never dare attempt it.

The mark wasn’t just skin deep; to remove it completely, a chunk of flesh had to be carved out.

Brody clearly hadn’t expected this reaction from me. Trying to redeem himself, he fumbled in his coat and pulled out two fluffy clumps of fur.

Only then did I realize they were severed wolf tails of Chelsea and him.

His face twisted with pain. “I’m sorry, Alexis. I was a bastard. I finally understand how much pain I caused you. So I cut off both of our tails to make it right!”

“Please forgive me. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”

But inside, I felt nothing.

Did he really think cutting off their tails could bring mine back?

I stared at him coldly. “Brody, if you truly want to make it up to me,

then stop showing up and messing with my life. There’s no future between us. Adam and I have already marked each other, and we’re happy—very happy.”

“No! You’re lying, right? There’s no way you could’ve marked someone else!”

Panic surged in his voice. He rushed to his car and pulled out a bouquet of roses.

“Alexis, look! I brought your favorite roses!”

Before he could even take a step toward me, his bouquet was kicked out of his hands, petals scattering across the pavement.

Adam’s gaze was fixed on Brody, sharp and dangerous.

A flicker of crimson rage passed through his emerald eyes.

Brody snapped, furious. “Why did you kick the flowers I brought for Alexis?”

Adam let out a cold laugh, his expression filled with scorn.

“You claim you love Alexis, but you don’t even know she’s allergic to pollen. Some love that is—pathetic.”

The blood drained from Brody’s face. He looked completely thrown.

“Sorry, Alexis. I—I didn’t mean to. I thought…”

He thought I liked roses. But the one who liked them had always been Chelsea.

And to be honest, Chelsea didn’t even like roses that much. She just

enjoyed watching me suffer from allergic reactions.

Every time Brody gifted her roses, she’d graciously offer to “share” them with me. I’d explain my allergy every time, but neither Brody nor my parents ever believed me.

They thought I made it up just to spite Chelsea.

Because of that, I ended up in the pack hospital every other day with allergic reactions I never should’ve had to endure.

I stared at Brody’s hollow, broken expression. My gaze was cold as ice.

“What makes you think a half-hearted apology can undo years of pain and humiliation I suffered? Brody, stop lying to yourself.”

He stumbled back, nearly losing his balance.

I turned away and took Adam’s arm, ready to leave. But then Brody suddenly bolted forward.

Adam instinctively stepped in front of me to shield me.

But Brody wasn’t running at us. Instead, he veered off to the side, straight toward a fruit stand.

He threw down a black credit card, grabbed a few mangoes, and began shoving them into his mouth like a madman.

I froze.

And then, like lightning striking, it hit me—
