The door opened.

The wild joy on Wyatt’s face instantly congealed.

Hayley, standing in the doorway, was just as stunned. She looked at him, tears welling in her eyes.

“Wyatt, why have you been shouting for that Cora person ever since you woke up? I’m your girlfriend!”

Wyatt stumbled back a step in horror. A sense of absurdity so profound it almost suffocated him swept over his body.

“No, you’re not!”

Hayley threw herself at him in tears, wrapping her arms around his waist.

“Yes, I am! Don’t you remember? Last year, you took me to Hawaii. That’s where we officially got together!”

The instant she touched him, every fiber of his being recoiled.

“Hawaii… That was my honeymoon with Cora!”

He didn’t even know what he was saying anymore. His brain buzzed, and the panic was driving him to the

edge of insanity.

Tears clung to Hayley’s lashes like pearls.

“Wyatt! How can you treat me like this!”

She accused him through her sobs, every word deliberate.

“I looked into it. That Cora Dawson is the girl you liked in high school, right?”

“Ten years! You haven’t seen her in ten years, and you’re still thinking about her!”

“She’s probably married with kids by now, living her own life!”

Wyatt’s eyes instantly darkened.

Just hearing Hayley say “she’s married with kids” felt like a knife twisting in his heart.

“Shut up.”

“You don’t have the right to talk about her.”

Hayley sobbed harder. She pulled a document folder from her bag and hurled it at Wyatt’s chest.

“I don’t have the right?”

“I’m pregnant with your baby! Why don’t I have the right? What did she ever do for you!”
