“Some stubborn young lady before you refused to cooperate, and now she’s dead,” Clara continued.” Maybe I would have left your corpse intact if you had obeyed.

“Do you think I don’t know this was all your doing? At first, all I wanted was the baby in your womb, but now, I don’t care about that anymore. I want your life!”

“Monsters! I won’t let you get away with this!” I yelled and struggled with all my might, but Colter was

strong.

He grabbed my arm and jammed the syringe into my vein.

The sharp pain made me scream as blood slowly flowed through the tube into the glass vial.

“Stop moving!” he snarled viciously. When he saw that I was still struggling desperately, he raised his

hand and slapped me twice across the face.

The sharp slaps left my cheek burning in pain, and blood seeped from the corner of my lips.

“Ungrateful bitch!”

Clara kicked me hard in the stomach, and it hurt so much that I curled up on the ground, drenched in cold

sweat.

The two took turns raining down a brutal barrage of kicks and punches on me, sending my body rolling across the freezing concrete floor like a discarded ragdoll.

Colter yanked my hair and violently smashed my head against the brick wall. With each impact, my

vision darkened a little.

His spit flew all over my face as he screamed hysterically, “Bitch! Who do you think you are? You’re

nothing but a pawn in our plan and a rotten little piece we can throw away whenever we please!”

When he stomped on my back with his leather shoe, I felt as though my bones were about to crush.

“If you want to blame someone, blame your bad luck! Who told you to be so stupid that you’d take the bait from a text message? Didn’t your parents teach you not to trust strangers?

“Oh, and by the way, your so-called dad is probably still waiting for you to text him that you’re safe!”

He burst out laughing.

Clara didn’t stay idle either. She stood off to the side and ground the sharp heel of her stiletto into my fingers.

The pain made me scream, but she only laughed harder.

“You idiot! Do you still not understand that you’re just our scapegoat? Once we transfer everything in my womb to your body, the rich men will come after you and beat you to death!”

She leaned in, dug her sharp nails into my cheek, then added in a shrill, evil voice, “Look at the pathetic

state you’re in right now. You’re filthy, disgusting, and a waste of food if you stay alive. It’s an honor that

you can even contribute to our lives.

“Don’t push your luck. I’ll snap your fingers one by one if you keep fighting back!”

Colter crouched, seized my throat, and forced me to look him in the eye.

His eyes were bloodshot, which made him look like a wild beast that had lost control.

“I’m telling you-no one will ever find you, even if you die here today. This is an abandoned factory,

where your corpse will rot, and rats will pick your bones clean. No one will remember or mourn you.

“So, die in peace. Your sacrifice will give us a better life!”

As his grip tightened around my throat, I felt myself suffocating. My consciousness started to fade, but

only a single thought remained in my mind-I couldn’t give up. I had to survive!

Just as I was about to completely black out, the piercing wail of police sirens erupted outside the factory, growing louder and closer by the second.

Colter’s and Clara’s faces instantly drained of their color. They snapped their heads toward the door in

panic.

“Why are the police here?” Clara shrieked.

A weak smile curled up on my lips.

In truth, I had suspected that something was wrong before coming over. Dad rarely sent such long

messages through WhatsApp, and his tone had felt unnaturally stiff.
