They Erased Me, So I Rewrote My Life Chapter 44

Three days after we pieced together our past lives, Savannah came for me.

She stormed onto the University of Oregon campus like a hurricane.

“Eliza Walton!”

She stood on the library steps, soaked to the bone.

The Portland rain was cold and dense, plastering her hair to her face and making her mascara run. She looked pitiful, but the fire in her eyes hadn’t dimmed.

“We need to talk!”

Her voice drew the attention of students all around us.

I closed the book in my hand and walked out from under the library’s covered entrance.

The rain quickly dampened my shoulders.

Leo followed, his body tense with vigilance.

I shook my head at him.

“Let me handle this.”

I stood in front of Savannah and, for the first time, looked at her calmly.

She was no longer the little girl who hid behind Father to win sympathy.

There was calculation in her eyes. A hunger for control. And a trace of madness she could no longer hide.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“I want you to admit it.” She suddenly laughed, a twisted, ugly sound. “Admit you’ve always been jealous of me, that you hate me, that you wish I would just disappear.”

“And then what?” I asked.

“Then I can finally tell everyone that you’re insane.”
