They Erased Me, So I Rewrote My Life Chapter 23

Before high school graduation, Leo and I began seriously planning our next steps.

The goal was clear.

Oregon.

There were schools there that both of us wanted to attend, and it was far enough from Texas.

Far enough to finally shake the Walton family’s influence.

“Wherever you go, I’ll go,” Leo said casually, flipping through a college brochure.

But when I heard it, something moved softly in my heart.

It was one of the warmest things I had heard since starting over.

But that peace didn’t last long.

Ethan came to the school, stopping me at the edge of the farm.

He looked terrible. His hair was a mess, his suit wrinkled, as if he hadn’t slept in days.

“Eliza.” His voice was hoarse when he spoke. “Something happened to Savannah.”

I looked at him and waited.

“Someone at school made fake photos of her and put anonymous threatening letters in her locker.” Anxiety clouded Ethan’s eyes. “She said… if you’re willing to come home and issue a statement as her sister, saying the two of you have a good relationship, this will all calm down.”

I almost laughed.

The same old script.

“So,” I asked, “her new role is a school bullying victim?”
