My Villainess Script Has A Glitch Chapter 05

Nathaniel didn’t leave after the pies were finished. He sat down with Dad for a game of chess.

Mom brought over a plate of fruit and got straight to the point. “Nathaniel, are you staying tonight or heading home?”

Nathaniel looked up. “This is my home, Mrs. Kensington. Of course I’m staying.”

Mom’s face lit up, and her eyes teared up. “Good,” she said. “I’ll have Chloe get your room ready.”

I didn’t move from the couch. “No.”

“Since when?” Mom asked. “Every time Nathaniel came back from the Thorne house, you were the first one in his room. You’d throw a fit if anyone else so much as touched it.”

Nathaniel’s father had left him with us, but he was still a Thorne by blood. His grandfather picked him up every holiday.

When I was little, I didn’t know what any of it meant. I just texted him nonstop whenever he was gone — when are you coming back, what are you doing there.

Once I was old enough to understand what I felt, I started insisting on being the one to clean his room. I’d sneak little trinkets in — my way of marking my territory.

To him, I was just a girl who wouldn’t take no for an answer. Everything I did crossed boundaries I refused to acknowledge.

“Let someone else prep his room from now on,” I told Mom.

I was going to take back every single thing I’d ever put in that room — the floor mats, the cups, the tissue boxes, the throw pillows, the scented candles.

After the chess game, Nathaniel pushed the door open and found me standing in the middle of his room with a cardboard box.

His gaze swept the room, and he went still in the doorway.

[What is she up to now? Is she seriously packing up all the stuff she bought?]

[Honestly, Nathaniel never used any of it. He probably wanted to throw it all away ages ago.]

[I’ll say this — the side character is loaded. Her parents spoiled her rotten.]

[As long as she stops obsessing over the male lead, she’ll be fine.]

[She’s so rude. She barged into his room like she owned the place.]

[She has zero respect for the male lead. Look at Nathaniel’s face — he looks furious.]

[Who wouldn’t be mad? Imagine someone you can’t stand going through your stuff.]

“Relax,” I told him. “This is the last time. I won’t come in here again.”

I walked right past him with the box in my arms.

“Martha, throw these out for me,” I said.
