Three years passed in the blink of an eye, but he still 

had no news of Bianca. 

Scarlett, however, kept clinging to him like a ghost, 

forcing him to go to City Hall and marry her. 

“Elliot, you bastard. You said you were going to marry 

me.” 

Elliot remained unmoved. “Funny. I also said I was 

going to marry Bianca. Did that count for anything?” 

Scarlett was furious. She posted online to condemn 

him. 

Elliot simply laid out the entire story from beginning to 

end, leaving nothing out. 

It was as if history had repeated itself. 

A cheating man exposed his own affair, dragging out 

the other woman and then dragging out the other 

woman’s mother too. 

It turned out Scarlett’s mother had also been the other 

woman, and Scarlett herself was an illegitimate child

Her coldness wounded him. 

The person he had spent half his life searching for did 

not seem to want to see him at all. 

That crushing gulf between hope and disappointment 

was hard to understand without experiencing it 

firsthand. 

Oh, right. She had also called him Mr. Ford. That form 

of address hurt too. 

There were clearly so many other names she could have used. They had used them before, hadn’t they? 

Elliot, Elliot Ford, even Mutt–any one of them would 

have sounded better than that. 

But she chose the most distant one. 

When Elliot heard those words, his heart hurt so badly 

that he nearly could not breathe. 

But because her smile was so pure, and because she 

was still so beautiful and young, he forgave her 

coldness. He even forgave the smugness of the man she 

called her husband. 

She deserved a beautiful marriage and a good husband 

who cherished her. 

Eighteen years had passed. Some mistakes could no longer be fixed. 

If anyone was to blame, it was Elliot, for realizing the 

truth far too late.
