He Asked Me To Be His Mistress So I Left Him For Good Chapter 05By Novel7s / May 3, 2026 He Asked Me To Be His Mistress So I Left Him For Good Chapter 05The private jet my aunt had sent to pick me up had arrived ahead of schedule. After I got on the plane, I drifted in and out of sleep. When I woke up, I was already overseas, lying in a hospital bed once again. There was an IV needle in the back of my hand. I knew I was seriously ill this time, both mentally and physically. My aunt cursed toward the hallway, “Bastard.” Then she turned back to comfort me. “It’s all right. I hired the best medical team for you. Everything is going to get better.” She sat by my bed and peeled an apple for me. When she finished, she handed it to me and said, “For a safe, peaceful life.” From then on, I lived eighteen safe, peaceful years. It was not until eighteen years later, when I unexpectedly ran into Elliot on a street in London, that the faintest ripple stirred my life again. By then, I had both a son and a daughter. Elliot was still alone. I did not recognize him at first. He had changed too much. He looked weathered, poor, down–and–out, and lonely. He had nothing in common with the handsome, high–spirited man in my memories. Only when he called my name in the fine London drizzle, wrapped in an old black trench coat faded from too many washes, did I finally recognize him. “Long time no see?” “Long time no see.” I answered him without love, without hate, and without the slightest ripple in my heart. “Can we talk?” He sounded shy and awkward. After getting my husband’s permission, we found a small café and sat down. “Scarlett and I broke up,” he said slowly. “Did you know I’ve been looking for you for eighteen years?” His voice choked there. Then he continued, “I sold the company and traveled through more than eighty countries. Not a moment has gone by when I haven’t been drowning in regret. Bianca, I’m sorry.” I said softly, “It’s all in the past. Just an old memory. Don’t take it so hard, Mr. Ford.” I did not know whether it was my tone or my expression that provoked him, but he suddenly became agitated. “How can you call it just an old memory? It was a love carved into my bones.” I could not help laughing. So this was what he called love. What a strange kind of love. “Mr. Ford, if there’s nothing else, I should go. My husband is waiting for me.” As if afraid I would leave, he quickly said, “There is something else.” “How have you been all these years?” “As you can see, my husband and I are doing very well.” “That’s good. That’s good.” He lowered his head. “I haven’t been doing well at all.” Elliot began to reminisce. That day, when he saw Bianca Rose climbing up the rope ladder, he knew she had decided to leave him for good. For some reason, a dense, prickling pain spread through his chest. When he saw the aircraft take off, he instinctively ran after it. Scarlett stopped him. “Why are you chasing her? Let that kind of woman go.” “What kind of woman?” Elliot asked her. “A woman who willingly stooped to being the other woman.” “She did not willingly stoop to being the other woman.” Elliot raised his voice. “We were the ones forcing her into that role, and even then, she never agreed. She chose to leave this place for good instead.” “You’re yelling at me because of her?” It was the first time Scarlett had ever seen Elliot lose his temper. She felt awful too and asked him, “Are you still in love with her?” “Yes. I still love her. I’ve loved her all along.” “Then what am I? What do I count as?” “You count as proof that I was blind. Only now do I understand why you got close to me and why you insisted on forcing her to become the other woman. It’s because you enjoy the thrill of bullying people.” “I don’t.” Scarlett shook her head. “You don’t? Then what are these?” Elliot pulled up the secret information he had found on his phone. In high school, Scarlett had bullied a girl in her class under the excuse that the girl’s older sister had stolen something. In college, she had bullied a male student from a poor family under the excuse that he had ignored an elderly woman at a crosswalk. But in truth, that elderly woman had not wanted any help at all. Scarlett did not care. She simply needed an excuse, a reason she could use to bully someone. Unfortunately, Elliot had not seen that file earlier. By the time he saw it, Bianca was already being bullied. At that moment, his mind and body were at war, leaving him frozen in place. Everyone thought he was laughing until tears came out. In truth, he had really been crying. He did not dare look at Bianca. He did not dare face her. So he could only keep looking at Scarlett, and the longer he looked, the uglier she seemed.
