He Secretly Married His Mistress While Living Off My Money—So I Stripped His Wealth Overnight Chapter 07

Sharp pain drained the nurse’s face of all color. She trembled all over, too frightened by his sudden wild outburst to utter a single word.

Maren flinched and stepped backward half a pace, equally unnerved by his ferocious expression.

“Which hospital did they transfer her to?”

Brendan’s voice turned raw and graveled, overcome by unprecedented panic and dread.

He paced restlessly like a trapped man scrambling for escape.

Tears welled in the young nurse’s eyes as she shook her head frantically.

“I’ve no clue… Her family arranged emergency transfer, our facility has no right to inquire further.”

“Useless!”

Brendan ripped his hand free and slammed a fist hard against the hospital wall.

Skin split open on his knuckles, thin trails of blood oozing out.

Yet the physical ache could never calm the raging panic swirling inside his chest.

Ignoring Maren’s shaken state, he grabbed his coat and prepared to rush out searching for Sorrel.

His pocket phone buzzed violently then, harsh ringing growing more urgent by the second.

He ended the call, only for the line to ring again instantly.

Irritated, he picked up, the firm’s deputy’s frantic voice blasting through the speaker right away.

“Brendan, get back to headquarters immediately! Disaster’s struck!”

“Every multi-million-dollar contract we just locked down pulled funding out of nowhere. Our sales team’s pleaded endlessly with zero progress.”

“Only Sorrel can salvage these talks; business owners always respect her enough to negotiate.”

Fury ignited inside Brendan in an instant.

He kicked over a metal hallway trash can, its harsh clatter drawing stares from every nearby patient and

family member.

“I can’t track her down at all!” he roared, drowning in frustration.

The deputy sighed heavily on the other end, his tone heavy with reproach.

“This isn’t some trivial mishap! Losing these huge deals sinks our whole company.”

“I warned you long before not to hurt Sorrel chasing after Maren’s drama.”

Nearly all our business connections and resources were secured single-handedly by Sorrel over the years. Your reckless favoritism ruined everything.”

Brendan cut the call roughly, fed up with endless complaints.

Shaky-fingered, he pulled up his messenger and opened Sorrel’s pinned chat.

He typed harsh, aggressive messages one after another in a fit of rage.

Did you sabotage our investors on purpose, Sorrel? Know your limits with your childish tantrums.

If the company tanks from your sabotage, you’ll be responsible for every loss.

Fine, I get what you want. I’ll divorce Maren and sign legal marriage papers with you, is that enough?

Drop your tantrum and come back right now to fix these falling contracts.

He sent every message in sequence, yet not a single reply popped up on screen.

With no other options left, Brendan suppressed his rage and drove around visiting every partner company

personally.

He swallowed his pride and begged relentlessly for contracts to stay valid.

But every enterprise acted as if they’d prearranged a boycott, refusing him entry entirely.

As the company’s founding executive, he got blocked at every front gate by building security staff.

After wasting an entire day running ragged, he finally cornered one corporate executive.

The man softened upon seeing his worn, disheveled appearance and spilled the truth.

“We only partnered with your firm expecting an upcoming engagement between you and the wealthy Bennett

clan from Meridian Metropolis.”

“Word spread you’ve married another woman instead, so our cooperation’s no longer viable.”

Brendan stared in complete confusion. “I’ve never interacted with the Bennett family from Meridian Metropolis, much less planned an arranged marriage!”

He knew his company held modest renown around Havenbrook at best, nowhere near worthy of standing beside the powerful Bennett Global Conglomerate, never having earned a single formal meeting with their

leadership.

The executive huffed with obvious sarcasm.

“Quit playing dumb. The woman who negotiated every core project and backed your startup financially is

none other than the Bennett patriarch’s only daughter.”
