Farewell, My Don Chapter 15

Farewell, My Don Chapter 15

Dominic flew back to New York, his body still aching, his heart even more so.

He didn’t go to the mansion; he went straight to his office.

The office was cold and sterile, a sharp contrast to the warmth Genevieve had brought him.

He called his advisor, his voice cold and devoid of emotion. “Bring the evidence of Amara and the Carters. Contact the Boss of the Carter Family. Tell him I want to see him. Now.”

He didn’t wait for a response; he sat at his desk, head in his hands, replaying every moment with Genevieve, every mistake, every cruel thing.

He had been a monster, a fool. Now, he was going to pay the price.

Daniel arrived an hour later, his face pale, his hands shaking.

He had been a friend of Dominic’s father and a Mafia boss, but now, he looked like a broken man.

“Dominic,” he said in a trembling voice, “what is this about? Amara told me you were angry with

her, but—”

Dominic interrupted him, pushing a folder across the table.

“Open it and see,” he said flatly.

Daniel opened the folder and looked at the photos, videos, and lab reports inside, his face instantly

turning pale.

“She… she wouldn’t do this,” he whispered, shaking his head. “Amara is still a child. She’s spoiled,

but she’s not a murderer.”

“Exactly,” Dominic said coldly, “she killed my child, tried to kill my wife, and she lied to me for years. Daniel, you have two choices. Either send her to a closed psychiatric hospital where she can never hurt anyone again; or I give this evidence to the police. With the Rizzo Family’s influence, she will spend the rest of her life in prison, or worse. Choose for yourself.”

Daniel fell to his knees, pleading: “Dominic, please. She’s my only daughter. I’ll send her away and guarantee she never comes back. Please, don’t send her to prison.”

Dominic stood up and looked down at him.

“You have 24 hours. If she isn’t gone by then, I will destroy the Carter Family. All businesses, all

assets, everyone. Do you understand?”

Daniel nodded, tears streaming down his face, as he staggered out of the office.

Dominic picked up the ultrasound photo, his fingers lightly brushing the tiny outline on the image,

and closed his eyes.

This wasn’t enough. Sending Amara away wasn’t enough.

It couldn’t bring his child back to life.

But it was at least a start.

For the next week, he completely dismantled the Carter Family.

Their casinos, drug routes, legal businesses–all turned to nothing, crushed by the Rizzo Family’s

power.

Daniel begged him to stop, but Dominic was deaf to it.

His anger burned, he was scarred and bruised, and he just wanted to vent his rage, making the

Carter Family the perfect target.

Amara was sent to a remote psychiatric hospital, a place from which she was never heard from

again.

At least that’s what he thought.

Three days later, while he was in his office staring blankly at Genevieve’s photo, his assistant

rushed in, terror in his eyes.

“Don! Amara escaped. She’s downstairs. She’s crazy.”

Dominic stood up, gritted his teeth, and walked toward the lobby.

Amara had her hair down, wearing a hospital gown, screaming his name. “Dominic! You can’t do this to me! You love me! You said you’d love me forever! You said you’d protect me!”

He walked up to her, his gaze cold and devoid of emotion.

“I never loved you,” he said flatly, “I only pitied you. I felt I had an obligation to help you. But I never loved you. You are a monster, Amara. A cruel and selfish monster. You killed my child. You tried to kill Genevieve. And you lied to me. You got what you deserved.”

“No! No!” she screamed, struggling desperately to break free from the security guards holding her

“I did it for you! I love you! Genevieve was in the way! What was she! She didn’t deserve you! I did!” Dominic leaned in close to her, his voice low and full of threat.

“You loved me? Then why did you hurt the woman I love? Why did you kill my child? You never loved me, Amara. You only loved the concept of me. You loved power and control. When Genevieve threatened all that, you wanted to destroy her. Now, you have to go back to that hospital. If you dare escape again, I will kill you. Slowly and painfully. Do you understand?”

Amara’s eyes widened, fear replacing the madness.

“You wouldn’t,” she whispered.

“Try me,” he said. He nodded to the guards, who dragged her away, her screams echoing through the lobby.

Dominic stood there watching her leave, but he felt nothing.

A week later, he collapsed in his office and was rushed to the hospital with severe stomach bleeding.

The doctors said it was caused by extreme stress, exhaustion, and years of neglecting his health.

He refused treatment, refused food, refused to talk.

He just lay in the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking of Genevieve.

His assistant brought him his old phone, the one he used before knowing Amara, which contained Genevieve’s texts and voice messages.

He turned it on, and before him were hundreds of texts, all filled with love, concern, and hope.

[Don’t forget your umbrella.]

[I made your favorite soup.]

[I love you.]

The last text was sent on the day she lost the baby:

[Save me.]

He saw it then, but he ignored it.

He called her a liar. He humiliated her ruthlessly.

He opened the voice messages and heard her voice soft, gentle, full of hope.

“Dominic, I saw a beautiful wedding dress today. Maybe one day, we can renew our vows I’ll wear it

for you.”

He played it over and over, her voice echoing in his ears, reminding him of everything he lost. His assistant called Eva, pleading for her to tell Genevieve about his condition, but Eva’s response was

cold and final.

“Genevieve is very happy now,” she said. “She has a good job, good friends, and a man who loves her. She doesn’t want to hear about Dominic ever again. Tell him: live your miserable long life. Watch as she does just fine without him. That is his punishment. That is the atonement for his

sins.”
