I Became the Villainess So I Struck First Chapter 04

Six hours later, Elena woke up.

When she came to, she clutched the pendant, which glowed with a faint light.

“Spatial dimension……” she whispered, “I have a spatial dimension……”

Ethan’s eyes widened.

Elena looked at him, smiling weakly, “Ethan, I think…… I’ve awakened a power. This pendant, it’s bonded to me……”

The crowd gasped.

Spatial storage, and a spiritual spring—with a wave of her hand, a handful of clear water materialized out of thin air.

It was the scarcest resource in the apocalypse.

Clean water.

From that day on, Elena became the shelter’s most sought-after person. Everyone greeted her with smiles. Those who received water were effusive with gratitude, while those who didn’t stared at her with eager eyes, waiting for the next distribution.

As for me, I became the “vicious woman who tried to steal her pendant.”

“Did you hear she tried to steal Elena’s pendant?”

“That’s her—she attacked Elena, pushed her and knocked her unconscious.”

“It’s clearly Ms. Elena’s pendant, but she insists it’s hers! If it really belonged to her, why did it bond to Ms. Elena instead of her?!”

Ethan thought the same.

“How do you prove that pendant’s yours?” he asked. “Do you have any connection to it?”

I opened my mouth, but no words came out.

“You don’t, do you?” he scoffed. “Elena awakened the moment she got the pendant. What about you? You wore it for eighteen years—what did it ever give you? Did it bond to you?”

I clenched my fists so tight my nails dug into my palms.

“Ethan, that’s my pendant—it’s mine……”

“That’s enough,” he cut me off. “Elena doesn’t blame you—she even defended you, told me not to be hard on you. Look at yourself, then look at her. Don’t you feel ashamed?”

With that, he walked away.

I stood frozen, blood dripping from my palms through my fingers.

Later, military personnel arrived, planning to evacuate our group to a government-established safe zone.

They took a head count before leaving, but one vehicle couldn’t fit everyone.

“Ability users board first,” Derek announced. “The rest will have to wait for the next convoy.”

As the partner of an ability user, I was permitted to leave with Ethan—at his request. Back then, I’d naively thought it meant he still cared for me.

But shortly after the vehicle pulled out of the shelter, it was surrounded by a massive horde of zombies.

Amid the chaos, a hand grabbed my arm and shoved me outward.

I stumbled out of the vehicle, crashing to the ground.

I looked back—it was Ethan’s hand.

The door slammed shut, and the vehicle roared away, crushing zombie corpses under its wheels.

Elena stood by the window, waving at me.

Then the zombies swarmed me.

The car pulled up outside the stadium. I found a safe spot inside and waited quietly for the earthquake to strike.
