Warned My Past Self on a Livestream, Canceling My 5-Year Marriage Before It Began Chapter 03

Caleb became convinced that I’d betrayed Chloe and driven her to suicide.

From that day on, the boy who once swore he would protect me forever disappeared.

In his place was a man determined to destroy everything I loved and drag me down to hell with him.

I slowly came back to myself.

On the video call, the younger version of me looked utterly devastated.

“So there’s really nothing you can do anymore?” she asked quietly.

I stayed silent for a long time before finally shaking my head.

“There’s nothing left for me.”

The room fell into dead silence.

Then I looked straight into her eyes and said slowly, word by word:

“But you still have time.”

The call disconnected.

I sat alone in the empty apartment.

The screen had barely gone dark before my phone vibrated again.

This time, it was a text from my father.

[Vivian, how have you been lately? It’s summer already. Have you been taking care of yourself? Maybe buy yourself some flowers and relax once in a while. I’m doing okay at the hospital, so don’t work yourself too hard.]

My chest tightened painfully.

After four years of suffering, all those wounds that once tore me apart had long since gone numb.

The only person I still cared about now… was my father.

I went to the hospital later that afternoon.

Inside the room, my dad sat propped up against the bed, his face pale and yellowish from illness.

When he saw me walk in, he forced out a smile.

“Vivian’s here? Have you eaten yet?”

I nodded and told him I had.

He studied my face for several seconds before gently patting my hair like he used to when I was little.

“You’ve lost weight.”

“The studio’s been busy lately,” I lied with a smile.

Dad sighed heavily.

“The nurses already told me your studio closed down four years ago.”

I froze.

Then I forced another smile and brushed it off like it didn’t matter.

Suddenly, Dad grabbed my hand tightly.

“Vivian… has Caleb been treating you well?”

I wanted to say, “He’s just busy.”

But the words lodged in my throat.

I couldn’t force them out.

“Dad, don’t overthink things. You should rest.”

I hurriedly pulled my hand free and fled the room before I completely broke down.

Out in the hallway, I tilted my head back and took several shaky breaths, barely managing to suppress the ache rising inside me.

Then my father’s attending physician walked over with a grim expression.

“Miss Rhodes, your father’s condition has worsened. He’ll need more frequent dialysis treatments. Please speak with Mr. Harrington as soon as possible.”

I nodded stiffly.

The doctor walked away.

A second later, the elevator dinged open.

Caleb and Lexi stepped out together.

Lexi held a prenatal exam report in one hand while the other rested protectively over her stomach, smiling softly.

Apparently, Caleb had accompanied her to a pregnancy checkup.

Ignoring the pain tearing through my chest, I stepped forward and stopped him.

“The doctor said my dad needs more dialysis treatments. Could you please…”

Caleb barely glanced at me before Lexi tugged lightly on his sleeve.

“Caleb, we’re gonna miss our appointment,” she said sweetly. “The doctor said we might hear the baby’s heartbeat today. Let’s go first, okay?”

Without another look in my direction, Caleb wrapped an arm around her waist and walked toward the obstetrics department.

I stood there watching their backs disappear down the hallway.

And for the first time in a long time, the pain splitting through my chest felt even worse than humiliation.
