Warned My Past Self on a Livestream, Canceling My 5-Year Marriage Before It Began Chapter 02

Tears trembled in her eyes as her voice shook violently.

“He would never become someone like that. Caleb’s loved me since we were kids…”

I didn’t argue.

I simply forwarded her the video Caleb had sent me earlier.

After watching it, she stared at the screen in complete disbelief.

“If he really becomes like this…” she whispered, “then why are you still there? Why haven’t you left?”

A bitter smile crossed my lips.

The version of me from five years ago was still painfully naive.

I sat on the couch the entire night without sleeping.

My phone screen stayed lit until dawn from all the messages she kept sending.

[Lexi’s my best friend. How could she possibly sleep with Caleb…?]

[And what happened to you? Why did you let your life become like this?]

[Vivian Rhodes… what happened to you in those five years?]

I closed my exhausted eyes and didn’t reply to a single message.

The next morning, Caleb left for work.

Not long after, Lexi walked out of the master bedroom.

When she saw me sitting there, she stretched lazily with a satisfied smile.

“Wow, Vivian, you’re still here?” she purred. “Caleb wore me out last night. My back is still sore.”

She deliberately brushed her hair aside, exposing the bright hickeys covering her neck.

“But don’t worry,” she continued sweetly. “Caleb would never divorce you. Not after what you did. You could spend your whole life making up for it and it still wouldn’t be enough.”

The smirk on her face deepened.

“Besides… even if you wanted a divorce, would you actually dare?”

I stayed silent.

Because she was right.

Caleb would never let me go.

And I couldn’t leave anyway.

My father’s treatment depended entirely on the private medical resources under Caleb’s name. Without them, my dad wouldn’t survive.

Seeing no reaction from me, Lexi looked disappointed, like she’d punched a pillow instead of a person.

Eventually, she left too.

A moment later, my phone buzzed again.

The younger version of me had waited all night for a reply before finally video calling me directly.

She looked just as exhausted as I felt, her eyes swollen from crying.

The second the call connected, she blurted out:

“Why won’t you answer me? You have your own career. Even if he cheated, why didn’t you just leave him?”

My silence slowly drained the hope from her face.

Then realization hit her.

Her voice trembled.

“So… five years later… you lost everything, didn’t you?”

Without answering, I walked to the window and turned the camera toward the streets below.

Two blocks away stood a field of rubble.

That used to be my design studio.

The studio I built from scratch after drawing hundreds of drafts and saving every penny I earned.

Caleb had pressured every one of my clients into cutting ties with me.

Then he bought the entire building and demolished it.

The younger me stared at the ruins in horror.

“Why would Caleb do something so cruel?” she cried. “What happened? Tell me! Please tell me!”

I lowered my eyes.

My voice came out dry and hollow.

“You don’t want to know.”

Four years ago, in the middle of winter, Caleb’s younger sister Chloe Harrington jumped from the roof of a high-rise building.

She died instantly.

And I was found in a hotel room the same night, half-dressed in bed with Chloe’s boyfriend.
