Betrayed During the Mating Ceremony Chapter 06

The room was in ruins. Sheets, quilts, and curtains had been slashed to ribbons. Appliances, chairs, and decorative pieces were smashed to pieces.

The walls were splattered with red paint, floorboards were pried up.

Elias stood dazed, then bent down. He picked up a diamond ring, half-buried in debris.

I closed the live feed and sighed. This ring… we designed it together when we first dated.

He wasn’t a powerful Alpha then, he couldn’t afford expensive gifts.

We sketched the design, and he promised, “I will make a name.

I’ll give you everything you’ve ever wanted. And when that day comes, I’ll slip this very ring on your finger.”

Later, he succeeded. He built an empire, founded his own pack. He searched and found the perfect stone at an auction house.

I believed, with all my heart, that he was sincere.

But when had it changed? My reluctance before the mating ceremony? Too many temptations? My fault, or his greed?

I couldn’t find the answer. But Elias seemed to realize exactly what he had lost. Fear broke free.

He dialed my number. Call after call went unanswered.

Tears stream down his face. He stared at the devastation, heart suspending.

“Isabella… Where are you? Do you have any idea… how worried I am?”

Tears fell into the silence.

No answer. No one cared.

The plane touched down. I arrived in Cielmont. A paradise for designers. The first stop on the honeymoon.

He’d promised me to fulfill my dreams once he succeed. So, I’d spent a long, long time planning this trip, including every place we wanted to visit.

But after the mating ceremony, investigating his affair, I discovered the truth. Every place I’d yearned for, he had already taken Morwen there.

They’d eaten ice cream together, taken photos on corners, made promises in romantic spots.

He’d been cheating all along. “Revenge” was just an excuse.

In a way, his cruelty was a blessing. It gave me a reason to never look back. How else could I walked away?

I pushed thoughts of him aside. I bought a small house in this dreamy town and began living for myself. I’d wake, attend chapel prayers, take evening strolls.

No more waking at dawn to iron his shirts and make his breakfast. No more enduring his criticisms. Life was peaceful.

Sometimes bored, I’d sit on a bench and scroll through news. The scandal had caused a stir.

Moonveil Pack had issued urgent statements, but they couldn’t stop the outrage. Their media accounts were flooded.

“Seen scumbags, never this vicious.”

“Used his fiancée, drove her mother to her grave.”

“Pretends devotion, heartless bastard.”

“Who would dare use their products?”

Morwen made a statement, but her haughty tone fueled the fire. Someone dug up her personal, flashy accounts flaunting wealth.

Using that information, they reported his company for tax evasion. Reaping what you sow.

I didn’t pay much mind. I headed to the library to study materials.

But as I turned a corner, I stopped. There stood Elias.
