My Sister Threw Away Her Fiancé Like Trash So I Married Him Instead Chapter 05

He stared at those two lines like they’d personally offended him.

“Impossible.” His voice had a crack in it he probably didn’t notice. “How is that possible?”

The golden text erupted.

[Wait – Willow’s PREGNANT?!]

[Can’t be real. Samuel has a condition – it’s extremely rare for him to conceive. No woman’s ever gotten

pregnant in all these years.]

[Maybe it’s not even his.]

“Whether I’m actually pregnant, and whether the baby’s yours go ahead and test it.”

I let the corner of my mouth lift. “With your resources, Don Samuel, I’m sure you’ll get a very clear answer.”

My composure rattled him more than any emotion would have.

The disgust and ice that had been all over his face a minute ago softened, barely, involuntarily, and I felt a cold flicker of contempt move through me.

I had never, not once, put my hopes in a man’s love.

My mother had believed my father’s words. Believed he loved her. She ended up bedridden and alone, and

nobody came.

Love fades. Pity runs out. The only thing that keeps a person at the table is leverage.

“I have what they call a hyper-fertile condition,” I said evenly. “Something I’ve never told anyone.”

Because I’d always known it might be the winning card.

Samuel looked at me. His expression was unreadable.

“According to them, conceiving is almost impossible for you.”

I let my fingertips brush across my still-flat stomach.

“So no matter how much you hate me, you can’t touch what’s in here. Not unless you want to be the end of

your own bloodline.”

The air in the room went solid.

Samuel’s eyes moved through shock, then fury, then a cold calculating stillness.

“What do you want?”

“Marry me.”

I said it the way you’d say pass the salt.

“Willow.” Samuel let out a short laugh, more disbelief than humor. “Are you out of your mind?”

“Fine. I’ll have it taken care of right now.”

I nodded and turned toward the door without a beat of hesitation.

One step. Two.

I counted to three in my head.

“Stop.”

I stopped.

The room held still for a long time.

Then, barely above a breath, like he was forcing the words out through clenched teeth, Samuel spoke.

“Fine.”

“I’ll marry you.”

“But,” he said, his voice going cold and flat, “you should know exactly what that means. Public face, private

suffering.”

“Don’t mistake this for anything else. I will never love you. That’s not something you’ll ever have from me.”

I dropped my gaze and let my lashes hide my eyes.

Love?

Nobody’s begging for it.

Because I was still West blood, I went home to tell them.

Aurora found out I was marrying Samuel and looked like she’d swallowed something rotten.

She stormed across the room in her heels and slapped me before I could move.

I didn’t dodge. I took it.

“Trash!” she screamed. “You’d really go pick up what I threw away? You’re that desperate?”

I wiped the blood from my lip and looked at her. “You threw it away yourself, Aurora.”

“Doesn’t mean it’s yours to take!”

She raised her hand again. Harrison’s voice cut through the room like a whip. “Enough.”

He looked at me, jaw tight. “Willow. You made this decision without a word to me. Do I mean nothing to you.

as your father?”

“Samuel is nothing. A fraud who got thrown out. You want to drag the West name down further by marrying

him?”

He slammed his hand on the table. “I’m ordering you to call it off. Right now.”

“Or get out of this house for good.”

I’d seen this coming.

“I’m not calling it off.”

“And about my dowry-”

“Your DOWRY?” Aurora’s voice went shrill. “Are you serious right now? An illegitimate daughter picks up my

garbage and wants money from this family? Dream on.”

I said nothing and looked at Harrison.

He turned his face away. “The West family won’t give you a single dollar.”

“Okay.”

I nodded once. “Then as of today, I have no connection to the West family.”
