My Sister Threw Away Her Fiancé Like Trash So I Married Him Instead Chapter 01

Willow’s POV

My sister Aurora had been engaged since childhood, a match arranged by our families before either of them could walk.

Then her fiancé Samuel got exposed as a fraud. Not the real heir. Just some kid who’d been switched at birth.

Aurora dropped him the same day. Didn’t even blink before throwing herself at the real heir, Theodore Aldrich.

So I did what made sense.

I picked up the engagement she’d tossed in the trash, and I was going to use every trick I had to take her place.

Aurora laughed in my face. “You were born to pick up my leftovers.”

Everyone thought it was a joke. The illegitimate daughter chasing after a fraud. Let them laugh.

Because what I could see — what nobody else could — were the glowing gold words floating above Samuel’s head:

[Samuel may not be the Aldrich heir, but he’s the Don of the Romano family. New York’s most powerful rising mob dynasty.]

[Out of respect for their childhood history, Samuel gave the West family one last chance. Aurora threw it away.]

[Winter is coming for the Aldrich and West families.]

I’d been running, and I was still a little winded when I stopped.

Samuel’s gaze landed on me for half a second, then slid away.

The golden text above his head flickered out, then came back:

[Damn. Who’s this? Great body, but those clothes are tragic.]

[Isn’t she one of the West family’s maids or something?]

[Wait — did they seriously send a maid to insult him? What kind of move is that?]

Tragic?

I glanced down at my uniform. It was cheap, sure. But there was something about it — something a little pitiable, a little soft around the edges.

“Aurora send you?” Samuel’s brow creased, his voice flat. “Tell her she’s made her choice. I won’t chase her. She doesn’t need to pull stunts like this.”

“Aurora didn’t send me.” I stepped forward and tilted my face up to look at him.

I knew the angle made my neck look like a swan’s.

“My name is Willow West. I’m Harrison West’s daughter too.”

Samuel raised an eyebrow. He actually looked at me this time.

The golden text updated fast:

[Didn’t the Wests only have one daughter?]

[Where did this one come from?]

“I’m Harrison West’s illegitimate daughter.” I laid it out plain. “The engagement you made as kids — it just said ‘a daughter of the West family.’ It never specified which one.”

Samuel let out a low, quiet laugh. His eyes drifted, just barely, toward the neckline of my uniform.

“Miss West,” he said. “The engagement was with the Aldrich family.”

“And I’ve already been proven to be a fraud. They mixed up the babies when I was born. The real Aldrich heir is back now.”

“You didn’t know?”

“I knew.”

“Then why do you still want to marry me? I’ve got nothing. I can’t give you anything.” His tone was mocking.

I bit my lip, just enough to make it look flushed. “I don’t care about any of that. What I care about… is you.”

The words barely left my mouth before heat crept into my cheeks.

[Look closer — the illegitimate one’s actually pretty hot.]

[Exactly Samuel’s type, right? Sweet face, killer body.]

“Is that so?”

Without warning, Samuel reached out and wrapped his hand around my wrist. He pulled, gently but deliberately.

I let out a soft sound and stumbled forward into him.

Barely an inch between us. Warm breath tangled together.

He dipped his head, eyes settling calm and dark on my lips.

I closed my eyes. My lashes trembled.

One second. Two.

Nothing happened.

I opened my eyes, confused, and found Samuel watching me with a half-smile that gave nothing away.

“Mr. Romano?”

He let go and stepped back. His voice was smooth, unreadable. “Miss West. I’m afraid I have absolutely no interest in you. My apologies.”
