My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 52

“That hurts, Amelia,” Carter said, pressing a hand to his chest. His voice was a hoarse whisper.

“It hurts?” The absurdity of it was breathtaking. “Carter, are you telling me you’re in pain? Are you hoping that will make me forgive you? Have you forgotten? For Savannah, you humiliated me in front of hundreds of people. You pushed me to the ground when I was eight months pregnant. You let me go into premature labor, and while I was fighting for my life in the hospital, you wouldn’t even answer the phone. Did you ever stop to think that I might be in pain?”

“Amelia…”

He knew he had no right to explain, no right to defend himself.

After a long silence, he pulled a thick stack of documents from the inside pocket of his suit. They were crumpled from his grip.

His hands were shaking so badly that several pages slipped through his fingers and fluttered to the ground.

“I signed it all, Amelia.”

He pushed the documents through the bars of the gate, his posture one of utter humiliation.

“The Beauchamp Group shares, my properties in the South, the beneficial rights to all my trusts—I’ve signed them all over. The beneficiaries are you and Claire.”

He looked up at me, his eyes red and raw, his face a mask of defeat.

“I don’t want any of it. I just want you to know that I was wrong. I was so wrong.”
