My Husband’s Heir Cost Him His Own Daughter Chapter 30

“You’re treating me and our son like this… for her?” Savannah clutched the baby, her face a mask of disbelief. Then her expression hardened. “Fine. I don’t want to see you either!”

She stormed upstairs, holding the child.

Carter watched her go, then sank onto the sofa as if all the strength had been drained from his body.

The living room was deathly quiet.

Amelia’s face flashed in his mind.

A few months ago, she had run up to him, excited, holding a home design catalog full of notes.

“Carter, look at this crib. It’s a Danish designer. Water-based paint, no toxins. Isn’t it beautiful?”

He’d been watching the financial news and had only glanced up.

“It’s a crib, Amelia. Do you really think she’ll notice?”

“Of course she will.” She had looked at him, her eyes shining. “Our daughter deserves the best. When she’s born, we can put this in our room, right?”

She had been so happy then, her whole heart wrapped up in their coming child.

Amelia had never been particularly strong.

For this baby, she had been so careful throughout the entire pregnancy.

And now… the child wasn’t gone.

She had been pushed away, abandoned by a legal document he had signed with his own hand.

Carter couldn’t bear to imagine Amelia, alone in that delivery room, giving birth to their daughter.

He raised a hand to cover his face, his shoulders shaking with silent, wracking sobs.

The sound of his own suppressed grief echoed in the empty room.

“Amelia… where are you?”
