Silenced Omega Chapter 14

Silenced Omega Chapter 14

Preston cut him off, his voice laced with mockery.

“Camden, what you should be doing right now is going back to Genevieve. She was frightened today.”

Camden turned to look at him.

The night wind whipped at the hems of their coats.

“She was taken on my watch,” Camden said. “I have a responsibility to find out what happened.”

“Responsibility?” Preston sneered. “To whom? To the woman who almost killed Genevieve?”

“Camden, stop lying to yourself. You just can’t let her go.”

“Preston.” Camden took a step forward, his voice dangerously low. “Watch what you say.”

“Am I wrong?” Preston didn’t back down. “Your face has been a wreck ever since you heard she jumped. You’ve been on edge.”

“You want to launch a full-scale search? What, are you actually afraid your little substitute is dead?”

Camden’s hand clenched into a fist, the veins standing out on the back of it.

But just as quickly, he relaxed.

“She may have information we don’t know about.” His voice was calm again. “We can’t let her fall into someone else’s hands.”

“She’s a mute. What can she say?” Preston retorted. “Besides, the man who saved her was probably Archer. She won’t last long with that madman anyway.”

He paused, his gaze darkening.

“But this isn’t over. He dared to take someone from right under my nose. I’ll make him regret it.”

“What are you planning to do?” Camden asked.

Preston smiled, but there was no warmth in it.

“Archer. I’m going to make him wish he’d never been born. As for Laney…”

He paused.

“She likes jumping into rivers? Fine. I’ll make sure she stays in the water forever.”
