Silenced Omega Chapter 08

Silenced Omega Chapter 08

Three days after the surgery, Laney woke up in pain.

Not the pain of her broken leg or her ravaged gland.

It was a deeper pain. A hollow ache from the very core of her body.

Instinctively, she reached for her lower abdomen.

Flat.

Cold.

Empty.

The wolf pup’s pheromones were gone.

The ward door opened.

Preston wheeled Genevieve in.

The moment Genevieve saw Laney, tears welled in her eyes.

“Sis… what happened to you…”

“Genevieve, don’t be sad.” Preston bent to comfort her, his Alpha pheromones a gentle shroud around her.

When he looked up at Laney, his eyes were cold again. “The doctor says Laney is recovering well. She just needs to rest.”

“We’ll go out and let her rest.”

“No.” Genevieve grabbed his hand, her eyes pleading. “I want to talk to my sister. Just for a minute. Please, Preston.”

Preston stared at her for a few seconds before finally giving in.

“Five minutes.”

He kissed Genevieve on the forehead.

“I’ll be right outside. Call me if you need anything.”

After the door closed, Preston didn’t leave.

He walked to Laney’s bedside, bent down, and lowered his voice.

“Listen to me. If Genevieve sheds a single tear because of you, I will break another one of your bones.”

“She’s emotionally fragile right now. She can’t handle any stress.”

“So you’d better behave. I don’t want to see that look on your face.”

He took a phone from his pocket and played a video in front of her.

The footage was of her and Camden in their bedroom.

Her face was in clear view, her expression lost in pleasure, her body pliant and responsive.

“If you don’t want this video posted all over the internet, you will cooperate.”

Preston put the phone away. “Understand?”

Laney looked at him, her eyes burning with hatred.

She slowly nodded.

Preston stared at her for a moment, a sudden tightness in his chest.

He quickly suppressed the unwelcome emotion.

“Remember what I said.”

Just then, the ward door was pushed open.

Camden strode in.

When he saw Preston standing so close to Laney’s bed, his brow furrowed.

Genevieve called out softly, “Camden…”

Camden went to her immediately, taking her hand.

“Why are you out of bed? The doctor said you need to rest.”

“I was worried about my sister,” Genevieve said, her eyes glistening with tears.

Camden turned to Laney, his tone frigid.

“Laney, Genevieve’s health is poor. Don’t upset her.”

“Talk to her. Don’t make her worry.”

Laney closed her eyes. She didn’t look at him, didn’t respond.

“Laney.” Camden’s voice dropped. “I’m talking to you.”

She didn’t move.

Camden walked to the bed and loomed over her.

“Have I been too lenient with you? Have you forgotten what you are?”

He reached out, pinched her chin, and forced her eyes open.

“Speak.”

Laney stared at him, her gaze terrifyingly empty, a deep, repressed hatred simmering beneath the surface.

She opened her mouth, but the injury to her jaw allowed only broken sounds to escape.

“Playing mute?” Camden sneered.

“Fine. If you don’t want to speak, then you’ll never speak again.”

He released her and called to the men outside the door, “Bring the silver water.”

Five minutes later, Camden held a test tube.

He raised a syringe in front of Laney’s eyes.

“I’ll give you one last chance.”

“Apologize to Genevieve. Tell her you’ll be obedient from now on and that you won’t hurt her again.”

Laney looked at the man she had loved for eight years.

She moved her lips, forcing out a single, difficult word.

“Fine.”
