I Took the Money and the Quadruplets Chapter 04

Three days later, a Gulfstream G650 touched down at a private airfield in Dallas.

Liam Walker, having closed the acquisition in Europe, stepped off the plane.

His assistant handed him a fully charged phone.

“Mr. Walker, Miss Cassidy called several times while you were in the air. I fielded them per your instructions.”

Liam nodded, unlocked the phone, and by force of habit, opened his email.

Then he saw it.

The subject line was a punch to the gut.

“CONFIRMED: Execution of Walker/Ava Divorce Agreement”

His hand froze.

He tapped the email and scrolled, his eyes flying down the screen.

The legal department’s confirmation letter.

The bank transfer record.

The receipt from my attorney, acknowledging payment and returning the signed documents.

Twenty million dollars. Divorce. Effective immediately.

Liam’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles were white.

This wasn’t his order.

He’d never wanted a divorce.

Our marriage had started as a transaction. That was true. He had assumed I, like him, was simply fulfilling an obligation.

But over the past year, Ava had become an anchor in his life.
