My Parents Said I Was Finally Behaving After I Died Chapter 06

Daphne’s mother, Sloan Biskop, had given all the staff some time off, thinking that it would teach Daphne a lesson.

Fred knocked on the door. His voice sounded softer as he said, “Daphne, I know this period is hard on you.

“I’ve given it some thought these past couple of days. I know you only hurt Diane because we didn’t show you enough care.

“I’ll tell your parents to give you some space.

“Sammy told me last night that he still loves you a lot.

“He still wants you to be his mother, and he wants to listen to your bedtime stories.”

He kept speaking until he felt parched. His patience had run out, but the door was still locked.

He was a little angry. However, when his assistant spoke up, cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

The assistant asked him in concern, “Mr. Fred, are you sure Ms. Daphne is inside?”

Fred sounded like he was trying to convince himself as he said in a low voice, “She always listens to me. If I ask her to return, she’ll definitely return home.

“Besides, she texted me last night saying that she’s doing fine at home. She asked me not to worry about her.”

However, the more he spoke, the more uneasy he felt.

He called Sloan and asked her for the password.

Sloan had also felt uneasy the past few days.

She recalled how Daphne had looked when she first arrived at the Bishop family home. She was only wearing a dirty, thin jacket,

a pair of tattered pants, and open-toed shoes in the middle of the wintry December.

She looked even worse than the beggars in their city.

However, Daphne’s eyes were bright. It warmed Sloan’s heart./

At that time, Sloan felt really sorry for Daphne. She always saved up all the good things for Daphne.

However, she did not expect Daphne to turn out to be selfish enough to want to get rid of Diane.

Sloan had raised Diane for a decade. How would she be able to let her go?

Besides, the Bishop’s family was rich. They could fully take care of another young girl.

Sloan watched as Daphne grew more and more arrogant and domineering. She would even gang up with the other girls to exclude Diane. She had been extremely disappointed in her daughter.

She realized that if she continued to let Daphne act this way, the latter would turn into a cruel ingrate.

Hence, she started to be stricter with Daphne.

She felt that the reason Daphne had grown more mature with age was because of her strict upbringing.

While she was lost in those thoughts, Fred called her.

When she found out that Fred was at her place, she was anxious. She chastised him, “Fred, are you a fool? This is not the right time. Why are you at my place?

“If someone sees you meeting Daphne, our efforts will all be wasted!”

In the past, Fred would always apologize when Sloan chastised him. But at this instant, he felt a chill running down his spine.

Daphine was her biological daughter. Was she not worried at all?

He said in a stern voice, Sloan, Daphne is my wife. Even if she’s wrong, I think she has suffered enough.

“She’s going to have her heart transplant surgery. She’s going to be admitted to the hospital. Naturally, I should visit her.

“All of you like Diane. If we leave Daphne out, don’t you think it’ll make her sad?”

Upon hearing that, his assistant glanced at him in confusion. He was puzzled. When did Fred start to care about Daphne?

Sloan fell silent for a while before telling him the password.

After she hung up, Fred’s words echoed in her mind. She wondered if she was really going overboard.

At the same time, Richard Bishop walked over and asked, “Mrs. Jane, Diane is hungry. Is the soup ready?”

Mrs. Jane, who was pretending to work while she observed Sloan, was frightened by the sudden voice and knocked over the soup she had just brought out.

The loud noise snapped Sloan back to reality.

Sloan asked suspiciously, “Mrs. Jane, why have you been so absent-minded lately?”

Mrs. Jane immediately apologized. She recalled the time when Daphne had repeatedly thrown up blood.

After that night, she kept having nightmares. In her dreams, Daphne stood coldly before her bed and asked her why she had

hurt her.

Sloan thought that she had sounded a little harsh, so she said in a gentle voice, “You can make another pot of soup.”

After a pause, she said, “Two pots, I want to take some for Daphne in the afternoon when I go home.

“Daphne is about to go for her surgery. She needs some nourishment too.”
