My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 08

But this time, Cassian did not feel sorry for her.

He only asked softly, “What they’re saying, is it true or false? Tell me one honest thing.”

“Of course it’s false.” Rowena reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. Her face changed, and she began shouting. “You’re doubting me? I gave so much for you, and you’re doubting me?”

Cassian suddenly laughed with sarcasm. “You gave everything for me? Wasn’t it Sera who gave everything for me, while you came to steal her credit?”

“From that investment that saved my family to the so-called night you spent with me, which part was ever true?”

As if remembering something, he suddenly lost his balance and staggered back, clutching his chest.

“You said Sera pushed you down, and that’s why our child was gone. Rowena, did Sera really push you? Was that child really mine?”

Rowena’s face changed. With a scream, she turned to run.

Cassian grabbed her and dragged her into the basement.

Then he gave a bleak smile and looked at Marcus pleadingly. “I was wrong. I truly was wrong about Sera. Can you tell me where Sera is?”

Tears fell from his eyes. “As long as you tell me where Sera is, I’ll give you money. As much as you want. Let me have one chance to get Sera back.”

Marcus only looked at him coldly. “Who wants dirty money from an executioner? Cassian, I told you. A person who betrays a true heart will live worse than death. You lost the person who loved you most. Spend the rest of your life repenting in endless pain.”

At that moment, Cassian finally understood. He had lost me.

He knelt on the floor, his shoulders shaking nonstop, tears dripping onto the ground. “Sera… what have I done… Sera…”

“I killed the person who loved me most. I killed you.”

“Clearly, we were so close. We almost had happiness. I destroyed it all…”

“Sera, wait for me. I’ll come find you soon.”

I spoke coldly. “Don’t come find me, Cassian. I’m afraid you’ll dirty the road I take to find my child.”

What was the point of repentance now? Repentance could not bring back my life or my child’s.

## Rowena’s POV

I curled up in the basement corner. The iron door was shut. The light had gone out long ago.

Once I got out, I wouldn’t let Sera off. Nor her child.

Suddenly, in the darkness, I heard a voice. Very close. As if it were right beside my ear.

“You stole my name, my husband, my child.”

My heart almost leapt out of my chest. I screamed instinctively, “It wasn’t me! I didn’t—”

The voice continued. “The only thing you didn’t steal was my death. And that is what you brought on yourself.”

In the darkness, a pair of icy hands landed on my shoulders. “Enjoy the final fire, Rowena.”

The hands disappeared. The lights came on. There was no one. But on my shoulders, two black fingerprints remained. As if burned into me.
