My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 07

The Soul of Seraphina’s POV

To prove his sincerity, Cassian used the official account of the family business to post an update.

It was a wedding photo of him and Rowena. The caption read: “After all this time, back to you.”

After posting it, he ended the shoot quickly and took Rowena home.

Rowena still wanted to cling to him, but he coaxed her back to the bedroom.

He stood alone on the study balcony, lighting one cigarette after another.

He kept scrolling through his phone as if he wanted to find someone to talk to.

“Damn it. Where the hell did Sera go? Why can’t anyone find her?” He raked a hand through his hair in frustration. “I’m getting married tomorrow. She won’t come out and make trouble again, will she? Of course she will. She’s so jealous of Rowena. She’ll definitely ruin Rowena’s happiest moment.”

I curled my lips. Cassian, don’t worry. I can’t do that anymore.

“If she comes to cause a scene, it means she still has me in her heart.” For some reason, Cassian, who had been angry a moment ago, suddenly gave a laugh. “She made things this ugly because I haven’t paid enough attention to her feelings lately. I’ve only been thinking about getting justice for Rowena.”

“If she comes tomorrow, I won’t hold it against her. Maybe I should choose a gentler way to teach her.”

I stared at him, stunned, finding the whole thing ridiculous. Even now, he was still thinking about how to tame me.

Rowena walked into the bathroom and turned on the hot water. Steam slowly rose. She hummed as she stepped into the bathtub.

Then the water temperature suddenly shot up.

She screamed and jumped out, her legs already red.

She looked up toward the showerhead.

The water had stopped. But steam still curled into the air. More and more of it.

So thick that through the mist, she saw a figure. A woman. Her belly swollen.

“…Sera?”

The figure vanished. The steam disappeared too. But on Rowena’s leg, a word had appeared, as if branded there. “LIAR”

At that exact moment, the doorbell rang frantically, piercingly loud in the night.

Cassian seemed to have expected it. He even smiled as he walked slowly toward the door.

“Finally can’t sit still? Sera, you’re finally willing to show yourself?”

He opened the door. But standing outside was Marcus.

“Boss, this is the autopsy report.” Marcus threw the file at him. “Take a good look at exactly who you threw away today.”

Marcus’s eyes were filled with grief. “Do you know how devastating the examination results were?”

“The entire inner wall of the steam cabinet was covered in her desperate attempts to escape. In that kind of agony, she tried everything to pry the door open, just to give the child the smallest chance of survival. But she couldn’t open it because you locked the door with iron chains.”

“That child was fully formed. He never even had the chance to open his eyes and see this world before his own father killed him.”

“Cassian, you killed your own wife and child. You’re not human. You’re a beast.”

Marcus lost control of his grief and rage and grabbed Cassian by the collar.

“She gave so much for you, and you never valued her. If she hadn’t sold her house and shares and put the money into the family business back then, do you think you’d have today?”

“She gave so much to you and this family, yet this was the ending she got. Cassian, you betrayed a true heart. You will not die well.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Cassian was still forcing a sneer. “You’re lying with her again. That investment back then was clearly the money Rowena got by marrying someone—”

Marcus punched him in the face. “Even now, you still refuse to admit how good she was to you?”

“The sender was A. Holloway. How many international deals did Sera help you negotiate? Every single time, she introduced herself as Seraphina Holloway. All these years, did you never notice even once?”

“You never noticed because all you ever saw was Rowena.” Marcus gave a mocking smile. “Boss, you love Rowena so much that you were willing to kill your wife and child for her. But is Rowena really worth your love?”

“Look at the trending news that just came out.”

Cassian stiffly took out his phone. Everyone was madly reposting his wedding photo update.

[Oh my God, the Blackwood heir actually picked up that toxic woman? Does he not know her scandal file is already a hundred-page PDF?]

[For anyone who doesn’t know what this woman did: she slept her way through several East Coast heirs trying to climb the ladder. She finally tried to secure a spot through a baby, but the guy found out the child wasn’t his and kicked her out.]

[Then she tried the same trick again with another man. His wife found out and dragged her to the hospital. Afterward, the whole circle blacklisted her, and she disappeared. I wondered where she went. Turns out she found someone willing to take her.]

[But isn’t this Blackwood guy married? Gross.]

Cassian’s expression grew heavier and heavier. Then it turned white in an instant.

On the stairs, Rowena suddenly ran down, crying. “Cassian, look what Sera did. To get revenge on me, she’s spreading rumors online. I don’t want to live!”
