I pressed my lips together and leaned my head on Adrian’s shoulder.

“After we broke up, I wrote you emails every day.”

But after all, I had been the one to bring up the breakup first.

I was just about to say a few soft words to coax him when a layer of white fog suddenly covered my vision.

“You told me to complete Adrian’s target mission.”

“I should have completed it.”

The System hesitated.

“Your soul delivery was wrong before.”

“The retrieval has now been completed.”

Its meaning was obvious.

My mission didn’t count.

I stared at the empty room and tried to negotiate with it.

“Your requirement was for me to win over Adrian.”

“I succeeded.”

“Does it matter so much whether I’m a Host?”

The System said, “The System has already bonded with another person from your world. It cannot be changed.”

I lowered my eyes.

A sharp alarm rang through the entire space.

I moved my body and realized my head was connected to wires and monitors.

Behind a wall of glass, people in white coats kept moving in and out around Adrian.

My voice was hoarse, as if I had screamed until my throat bled.

“Adrian, I’m back!”

Adrian’s expression changed.

He looked at me and slowly blinked.

I moved my lips without sound.

“Honey.”

The next second, the door was pushed open.

Adrian stumbled inside and finally sank to his knees in front of me.

Half-kneeling, he stared at me with scarlet eyes, his gaze fixed on me as I sat strapped to the chair.
