He Wanted a Nanny, I Returned As the Alpha King’s Luna Chapter 08

Under the threatening glares of the father and son, the doctor nervously treated my wounds, then scanned my abdomen with a portable scanner.

“Alpha King,” the doctor began cautiously, “the Luna and the baby are both fine. It’s just… the hand is rather badly injured. It will need time to heal properly.”

Leo hugged my neck, burying his small face in my shoulder. But his green eyes swept coldly over every single person in the hall.

David said nothing, just stood there silently. But the oppressive weight of his presence was suffocating.

Father and son looked identical when they were angry.

“You’d all better start talking and explain exactly what happened,” David’s voice was low and dangerous.

In the crowd, no one was suffering more than Mattew. He never imagined that the woman he’d thrown

away would become the most revered Luna in the land. Not only was she thriving without him, but she

had found a mate a thousand times better than him.

And yet… they were supposed to be Fated Mates. His first choice.

“Alpha King!” Mattew forced himself to stand, enduring the crushing pressure. “This is all a

misunderstanding!”

“A misunderstanding?” David slowly turned his head to look at him.

“Georgia and I are Fated Mates. We were together for seven years. We still have our mating bond! I just… I just wanted to show my concern, to ask how she’s been these past three years…” As he spoke, he looked at me with a twisted sort of affection. “After all, she used to love me so much…”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Was he bringing up our past to deliberately provoke David?

“Love you?” I scoffed. “Mattew, I really underestimated how shameless you could be.”

His expression flickered.

“Georgia, I know you resent me…”

“I don’t resent you,” I cut him off, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “I’m disgusted by you.”

“You…”

“Stop deluding yourself!” I snapped, my patience gone. “Who do you think you are? Fated Mates? That bond disappeared the moment you betrayed me!”

I took a deep breath and looked at David. “In this life, my one and only mate is David!”

My voice echoed in the vast hall.

The ice in David’s eyes melted, replaced by pure adoration.

“What did you say?” he asked softly.

“I said,” I met his gaze, speaking each word clearly, “I only acknowledge you as my mate.”

Crack

The wine glass in David’s hand shattered. He’d gripped it too tightly in his excitement. Blood trickled down his fingers, but he didn’t seem to notice the pain. He just grinned, a wide, satisfied smile spreading

across his face.

“Daddy’s hurt,” Leo said with worry.

“It’s nothing,” David ruffled his son’s hair, his eyes never leaving me. “Daddy’s very happy.”

“Georgia!” Mattew’s voice rang out again, filled with desperation and resentment. “I’ll be honest with you –Claire and I never completed the mating ceremony! The Moon Goddess never blessed our union!”

Claire shrieked, horrified that he would reveal their secret. “Mattew! What are you saying!”

He ignored her. “You and I are the true Fated Mates! The ones chosen by the Goddess!”

“So what?” I asked coldly.

“So,” Mattew took a deep breath, as if making a final, desperate stand, “break your bond with him, Georgia. Come back to me. We can complete the ceremony. I’ll throw you an even grander one.”

“You like children, don’t you? I’ll make my son accept you as his real mother…”

Everyone stared at Mattew like he was insane. How dare he say such a thing in front of the Alpha King?

“Enough!” David’s face was dark with fury.

Mattew, oblivious to the danger, pressed on. “Alpha King, I know you’re powerful, but you can’t just force yourself on a mated woman! The Moon Goddess wouldn’t-”

“The Moon Goddess?” David sneered. “You dare speak her name?”

“The Goddess never blesses a traitor,” David continued. “The moment you chose Claire, your bond with

Georgia was broken.”

Mattew stumbled backward and collapsed, muttering as if in a trance. “No… we’re Fated Mates… she’ll

come back to take care of my child, we’ll be a family…”

“Mattew,” I looked at the man I once loved and felt only pity. “I am so glad I left you three years ago.”

David wrapped his arms around me from behind, planting a soft kiss on my cheek. “That just proves you

were always fated to be mine.”

No matter how long it had been, I still wasn’t used to David’s constant, casual displays of affection. I shot

him a private glare, which, to Mattew, must have looked like the ultimate insult.
