He Chose My Sister. I Went Cold. Chapter 15

A few months later, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Silas rushed back from overseas. He hadn’t slept for thirty straight hours, and his eyes were bloodshot, but when he held our son, he couldn’t hide the satisfaction on his face.

“Freya, thank you.”

He murmured the words in my ear before I fell asleep.

But I had never once thought about starting over with him.

The child had been born safely.

As long as the marriage remained, I would never have to worry about money for the rest of my life.

As for how Silas wanted to live, that was his business.

In my last life, I had used up all my feelings for him.

Now, the only thing keeping me by his side was money.

Silas probably sensed that.

He began buying me things constantly—luxury goods, houses, jewelry.

His parents had no objection.

We lived like that for three years.

Our son, Leo, learned to walk and talk.

I often took him traveling, all over the world.

My parents tried many times to repair their relationship with me. I never agreed.

They sent Claire to Europe.

Her reputation in New York was ruined; the people in our circle would never accept her again.

Silas also stopped changing women the way he had before.

Outside of work, he spent most of his time with Leo, trying hard to be a good father.

On holidays and anniversaries, he still sent me gifts.

From the outside, our life looked peaceful and respectable.

Only I knew that I didn’t care at all.

This time, I was only taking what I truly wanted.

Everything else, I no longer had any use for.
