He Chose My Sister. I Went Cold. Chapter 08

So when he entered the ward, his expression was still cold.

I lay in bed, my face pale, unwilling to say a word.

The baby had been saved, but now, even looking at him annoyed me.

Silas stood by the bed in silence for a long time before finally speaking.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant? If I’d known, I wouldn’t have touched you.”

I pulled at the corner of my mouth.

As if hitting me would have been fine if I wasn’t pregnant.

When I didn’t speak, he asked again, “Is that man the reason you’ve been so cold to me these past few days?”

“You’re married to me. You can’t keep thinking about someone else. And that guy looks disgusting. Your taste is terrible.”

“I punched him once and he ran. A man like that doesn’t care about you at all.”

My stomach churned. Finally, I opened my eyes.

“Don’t let me hear that name again. Cletus and I have nothing to do with each other.”

Silas stared at me.

“Then how did he know you have a birthmark on your collarbone?”

I sat up abruptly, my voice sharp.

“Because he tried to rape me!”

The ward went quiet.

Silas stood frozen, as if he hadn’t understood.

A few seconds later, he asked in a low voice, “What did you say?”

I took a breath and slowly continued.

“When I was seventeen, my adoptive parents sold me to his family for money. I ran away on the day of the wedding. He later filed a police report against me, but in the end, he was the one who went to prison for attempted rape. If you don’t believe me, you can look up the case file.”
