He Chose My Sister. I Went Cold. Chapter 07

My mother’s face turned livid. For a long moment, she couldn’t say a word.

Finally, she squeezed out, “Who can you blame? Didn’t she bring this all on herself? And you were the one who pushed her.”

After that, she pulled Claire away.

My father sighed and patted Silas on the shoulder.

“I’ll go keep an eye on them. Call me if anything happens.”

Then he left too.

Only Silas remained outside the operating room.

For the first time, he was seeing exactly what position I held in my own family.

He stood there, my blood still on his hands, his chest tightening with every breath.

He had always thought he hated me.

He thought he looked down on me.

But at a time like this, he couldn’t help but feel that what I’d been given was deeply unfair.

After a while, the operating room doors opened.

The doctor took off his mask, his expression relaxed.

“The baby is safe. But she needs bed rest. For the first three months, she should stay in bed as much as possible, and she cannot get upset again.”

The tension that had held Silas taut finally snapped, and his legs nearly gave out.

But there were still too many questions in his heart.
