He Turned My Love Into a Grave Chapter 13

Silas said it with such righteous conviction, like she’d been the villain all along. It was laughable.

Elara let out a cold scoff, bitter and sharp. “Silas, who’s being delusional now?”

“I was going to end that pregnancy the second I found out. Yours or not—didn’t matter.”

“I regret marrying you. I regret falling for you. Anything tied to you—I want it erased.”

Her words were brutal, jagged. They cut straight into him. Fury erupted across his face as he seized her shoulders. “Elara, why do you have to say it like that? Do you have any idea how much that hurts? I made mistakes—fine. But does it justify this kind of hatred? You wouldn’t even carry my child?”

“I forgave you for cheating. What more do you want?”

For the first time, vulnerability cracked through his facade. His handsome face twisted with wounded sincerity. Anyone else might have been swayed.

But Elara’s heart had already bled out.

She shoved him away, her voice strangled by memory. “Cheating? You call what I did cheating? Silas, feel your own pulse and say that again.”

“And ‘doesn’t justify it’? So getting gang-raped by men you sent doesn’t justify hating you? What would it take—me dying? Would my death finally be enough?”

The shame and agony poured out of her like a tidal wave, suffocating.

Her voice broke at the edges. She trembled so hard her stitches pulled.

Silas went still. He repeated the words, uncomprehending. “I sent men to rape you? What are you talking about?”

“You were with another man. What rape?”

She laughed, cold and hollow. “Stop pretending. It makes me sick. You forgot already? That video in the warehouse. I told you I was assaulted. But you only had eyes for Lila and her child. You believed her lies. You never believed me.”

The blow landed like a physical strike. Silas stared at her, disbelief crashing through him.

So she’d been wrong about him. And he’d been just as wrong about her.

He drove his fist into the iron bedframe. The sound echoed like a gunshot. Elara flinched away.

Despair and regret twisted his face into something unrecognizable. He grabbed her hand. “Elara, I’m sorry. I didn’t know. That day—I told them to scare you. Just scare you. I never imagined those bastards would—”

Silas had spent his whole life arrogant and untouchable. People bowed to him. But now, he threw away all pride and begged.

She only grew colder.

“What’s done is done. I won’t accept your apology. I only regret not leaving you sooner.”

His hand hung in the air, useless and lost. His mind replayed every detail of that night. Walking in. Her ruined dress. The smell of alcohol and something worse. The more he remembered, the more his chest caved in.

The door opened. A familiar face appeared. “Elara, are you okay?”

One look, and she shattered. “Dad.”

Mr. Hale spotted Silas and rushed forward, placing his frail, stooped body between them. Despite everything—despite his fear of Silas’s power—this time, he’d die before letting his daughter get hurt again.

“Silas, I won’t let you hurt her anymore. I don’t care what it costs me. You’re not taking her.”

His eyes blazed red. That sick, bent frame suddenly looked unbreakable.

Silas greeted him with respect. “Sir.” Then, utterly humbled, “Sir, I came to bring Elara home. Everything that happened—it’s on me. I hope you can forgive me. Whatever punishment you see fit, I’ll take it.”

Elara and her father shook their heads, their faces tight with fear. “No.”

“Silas, the Hale family can’t afford your apologies. Just let us go.”

Elara leaned on her father’s arm, and together they walked away, slow and unsteady.

Silas watched their figures retreat, guilt flooding every chamber of his heart.

He pulled out his phone and made a call. “The surveillance footage from that banquet two months ago. Can you still pull it?”

The answer was no.

He inhaled deeply, his voice dropping to something lethal. “Can’t pull it? Then bring me every single person who attended. Especially the men who were in that room with me.”
