My Unfazed Mind Saves Me Chapter 05

The hall erupted into chaos. One second, I was the accused poisoner. The next, I was the one dying.

The Sterlings had a full medical team on-site. They rushed me into the medical wing.

Stella watched them carry me out. She couldn’t move.

She’d watched me pour the poison in with her own eyes, then left the room. That was the whole point –

making sure the camera caught everything.

What she hadn’t planned for was me sneaking a taste the second she walked out.

The girl who’d supposedly spiked the drink had swallowed the poison herself. Her whole accusation had just

blown up in her face.

The thought of what came next made her knees buckle. She scanned the room, looking for a way out

through the chaos.

She made it half a step before a bodyguard grabbed her by the arm and threw her at Victor’s feet.

Victor’s face looked like a storm about to break. The kind of fury that made the air in the room feel heavier.

Everyone near him took a step back without realizing it. Stella was on her knees, head down, shaking.

When Victor spoke, his voice was sharp enough to cut glass.

“You said she tried to poison me. So why did she drink it herself? And how did that camera just happen to

catch the exact moment she put it in?”

“From the moment she poured it in to the moment you pulled the footage and got a full toxicology test back

– a matter of minutes. You did all of that in a matter of minutes. Do you think I’m stupid, Stella?”

Stella’s voice came out broken.

“I… I saw it by accident. I thought she was just adding water at first. But she’d been acting weird lately, so I

grabbed the bottle and had it tested. Just in case.”

“It was that fast because a friend of mine runs a lab nearby. And the footage – I just asked the butler. He

pulled it up right away. I swear I don’t know anything else. I have no idea why she’d drink it after putting it

in…”

Then something clicked behind her eyes.

“Wait I get it now! This was part of her plan! She knew if you caught her, she’d be done for. So she drank some too on purpose.”

“If you drank it, she wins. And if you didn’t? Your medical team would save her anyway. She can’t lose! She probably has an antidote stashed somewhere!”

Victor’s eyes narrowed. “Lock her in the cellars,” he said. “We’ll deal with her later.”

Then he headed for the medical wing.

The medical team was world-class – Victor didn’t hire anything less than the best. And they’d gotten to me fast.

The poison hadn’t spread far enough to do permanent damage. I survived.

Through the glass, Victor could see me – pale, unconscious, an oxygen mask strapped over my face.

He told the butler to pull the full surveillance footage from that room. He wanted every second of it.

The butler came back with bad news – the camera had glitched. The only footage that survived was the clip of me pouring the liquid in.

Victor almost laughed. A glitch. Right when it mattered. Convenient.

Whoever had the skills to break into the Sterling security system and wipe the footage was no amateur.

My parents and brother were waiting outside my room. When they saw Victor, fear flashed across every one of their faces – but they stepped forward anyway.

My father went first. “Mr. Sterling, we never imagined something like this would happen. But please – Chloe

isn’t capable of this. If she put something in that glass, it’s because she had no idea what it was.”

My mother nodded hard. “Chloe is… she misses things sometimes. I know that. She misses things other

people would catch in a second. But there isn’t a bad bone in her body!”

My brother stepped in. “Mr. Sterling, if you want to call off the engagement, we’ll understand. We won’t fight

But please – don’t hurt my sister.”
