The Comments Told Me I Was Carrying His Only Heirs Chapter 03

Half an hour later, Josiah drove me straight to a high-end private hospital.

He had a doctor draw my blood for a non-invasive prenatal paternity test.

The results would take twenty-four hours.

Once the blood draw was done, we left.

As we reached the entrance, I turned to say goodbye, but he suddenly spoke up, “Where do you live? I’ll drop you off.”

I waved my hands quickly, “No, it’s fine, I can just grab an Uber.”

Josiah simply repeated, “I’m driving you.”

Despite the polite smile on his face, his tone carried a commanding authority that left no room for argument, so I quietly gave him my address.

An awkward silence instantly filled the luxury car.

I sat stiffly in the passenger seat, my hands gripping the seatbelt tightly while staring straight ahead at the windshield.

Josiah didn’t say a word either.

After a few blocks, he suddenly broke the silence, “I was set up that night. I only knocked on your door because I needed to borrow a phone to call….”

I lowered my head, burning with embarrassment, “I’m so sorry. I really thought you were the escort service I called.”

Following another agonizing pause, Josiah asked, “Why would you even order an escort? You were clearly a…”

My head dropped even lower. “I moved to this city entirely for my ex-boyfriend, but he cheated on me with his coworker. I was drinking away my feelings, got some liquid courage, and made a stupid, reckless decision.”

That was why I had panicked and run the moment I sobered up.

“It was supposed to be a safe day on my cycle, and I was too embarrassed to go buy the morning-after pill, so I just didn’t do anything about it.”

Josiah stayed quiet for a few seconds, “Have you been looking for me for a long time?”

I answered honestly, “Not that long. Just for the past month.”

Josiah let out a heavy, defeated sigh, “If the DNA test confirms the babies are mine, I will take full responsibility.”

He paused slightly, clarifying, “To be clear, I mean responsibility for the children. I will compensate you handsomely for your trouble.”

I snapped my head up, staring at him in utter shock, “Wait, you want me to actually have them?”

Josiah gave a slight nod, “Yes. I already have someone I love. There’s no way I’m going to marry you.”

I had assumed he wouldn’t want anything to do with these kids.

If he was actually willing to keep them, that was even better.

My babies were going to be filthy rich heirs!

I fought hard to suppress the wild excitement bubbling up inside me, “Can I still see them? Just once a week, or even once a month?”

Josiah agreed without a second thought, “Let’s do once a week. You are their mother, and it’s vital for them to have you in their lives as they grow up.”

I smiled gratefully, “Thank you.”

Josiah replied smoothly, “It’s the right thing to do. No need to thank me.”

[Hold on, isn’t he supposed to have fertility issues? How did she get pregnant on the first try?]

[They were hooking up from midnight until dawn, you really think that was just one try?]

[She must be incredibly fertile; it only takes a lucky shot.]
