One Hundred Rules to Tame My Impossible Billionaire Boss Chapter 08

Miles paced outside Willow Hall.

How bad was her fever? Why was she taking so long?

He stared at his phone anxiously, not realizing how worried he looked.

I put on a new dress I’d bought and bounced out of the dorm.

Ignoring his upset face, I linked my arm through his. “Aww, you’re so good. Came right when I called.”

His expression froze. Then anger flickered in his eyes.

“You don’t have a fever?”

I didn’t answer. Seeing him mad, I let go of his arm and my face went cold.

He’d lied to me for weeks. I could mess with him once. If he got mad, he deserved it.

Bullet comments laughed, [She won’t take any crap. He yells at her, she walks away.]

[She keeps playing like this, isn’t she afraid he’ll dump her later?]

Miles felt his chest tighten. He grabbed my wrist hard.

If it weren’t for that damn bet—

He wouldn’t—he wouldn’t be chasing after this impossible woman.

Thinking about everything he’d done for me, only to get toyed with, rage boiled up inside him.

It burned worse than when Blair had rejected him.

So frustrating.

He finally cracked and yelled, “I was worried about you!”

No normal person would follow those hundred stupid rules!

He’d followed every single one. So why did she keep treating him like this?

What was he to her?

A toy?

When he’d met my cold, distant gaze a moment ago, his heart had actually stumbled.

I frowned. He was loud, emotional, and we were right outside the dorm. People were staring.

I pushed his hand off.

He noticed my disgust and couldn’t believe it. “You’re embarrassed to be seen with me?!”

He wasn’t dumb. He’d spent the last week studying my micro-expressions.

The anger in his eyes faded into something hurt.

He was used to winning. Rarely had to struggle for anything.

Even when Blair turned him down, he’d walked away without looking back.

I smiled faintly. “Miles, you know I know you really well, right?”

“I mean, I know every single thing you like.”

He blinked, not sure why I was bringing that up. He nodded stiffly and grunted.

“So then—since I know you so well—how could I not see that you only chased me because you still like Blair?”

“Our families don’t match. If one day she offers an arranged engagement, would you say no?”

“I don’t like waiting around.”

After dropping that bomb, I pushed his hand away.

Miles looked ashamed.

I don’t know what he imagined, but his eyes softened when he looked at me.

“What do you want for dinner?” He scratched his nose.

I studied his expression and figured I’d at least secure that $300k settlement.

If he had zero feelings and was just finishing the bet, he wouldn’t have blown up like that.

He cares too much about his pride.
