My Husband Framed Me For His Mother’s Murder Chapter 03

My Husband Framed Me For His Mother’s Murder Chapter 03

Every second I spent pretending to be unconscious felt like an eternity.

Only when the clock passed 7:10 p.m. did I quietly breathe a sigh of relief and slowly open my eyes.

Just then, the hospital room door gently opened.

Seeing that I was awake, the doctor gave me a quick examination.

Thankfully, my car had good safety features, and I hadn’t been going too fast.

I only suffered minor external injuries, and a CT scan of my head came back clear.

I would be fine after a few days of rest.

After the doctor left, two uniformed traffic officers walked in, carrying notebooks and pens.

“Ma’am, how are you feeling? Can you answer a few questions so we can understand what happened?”

I rubbed my still groggy head and said softly, “Thank you. I’m okay, just a little dizzy.”

I paused, pretending to think hard. “I was stopped at the light when my phone buzzed. I reached for it instinctively, but I hit the gas by mistake. Next thing I knew, I crashed.”

The officers carefully wrote down everything I said.

One of them said, “We’ve already examined the scene. Preliminary finding is a single-vehicle accident. Good thing no one else was involved. But you might need to cover the cost of repairing the barrier.”

“Also, your front end is badly damaged. We had it towed to a repair shop.”

I nodded lightly, forcing a bitter smile. “Of course. I’ll take responsibility. Thank you, officers. I’m sorry for the trouble.”

It cost me some money and left me with scrapes and bruises, but it was worth it.

There were traffic officers at the scene, medical staff, and plenty of onlookers.

They had all provided an alibi for me without knowing it.

Then the officers returned my smashed phone, which barely still turned on.

I signed the accident report, settled my medical bill, and quickly left the hospital.

When I stepped out of the hospital, I checked my phone and saw it was almost 7:30 p.m.

I hailed a taxi.

But the moment the taxi pulled up to the entrance of my community, my heart sank as I got out.

The area below my building was packed with people.

Voices murmured and sighed all around.

I pushed through the crowd and immediately saw Michael on his knees on the ground.

His work badge still hung from his neck. His laptop bag lay beside him. It looked like he had just come from the office.

His hair was a mess. His face was streaked with tears.

He was hugging a blood-soaked figure, crying his heart out.

“Mom! Mom, wake up! How could you leave like this? I’m so sorry, Mom.”

“This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have left. Then that bitch wouldn’t have pushed you.”

Seeing Patricia’s familiar face made my blood run cold.

I staggered back a step, my mind buzzing.

I hadn’t gone home. I hadn’t followed the original plot.
