Spoiled by the Mafia King Chapter 06

Spoiled by the Mafia King Chapter 06

When I woke up, the first things I noticed were a white ceiling and the smell of disinfectant.

“She’s awake!”

Five tall figures appeared around my hospital bed.

Luca was holding a bowl. Matteo had a spoon. Nico was adjusting my IV. Adrian was changing the angle of the bed. Dante was holding a peeled orange.

“Sweetheart, does it still hurt?”

Luca gently blew on a spoonful of chicken soup before bringing it to my lips.

I looked at their worried faces, and my throat tightened. I shook my head.

“I’m just hungry.”

“Then eat.” Matteo frowned and pushed the spoon closer to me. “Don’t ever do this again. Papa must have lost his mind sending you to that hellhole.”

“The old man is lucky I wasn’t there,” Dante muttered, feeding me a slice of orange. “Otherwise, I would’ve ripped his beard out hair by hair.”

I laughed, warmth rising in my chest.

“Adrian, how is Reynolds?” I asked softly.

“Reynolds?” Adrian flipped through a file, a mocking smile tugging at his mouth. “She’s become something of a celebrity at the academy.”

After I left, she spent the whole day kneeling under the sun, piecing together scraps of paper. Every time she fainted, the soldiers poured cold water over her. By nightfall, she had probably managed to put back together only a third of the letter.

But none of it mattered.

She was now facing multiple charges, including assault, embezzlement, and fraud.

“We found out today that she stole more than fifty thousand dollars from the logistics budget,” Adrian said coldly. “Her uncle, the deputy police chief, was summoned this morning on charges of obstruction and bribery.”

“She’s finished.”

She had accused me of relying on men, but she had spent her entire life clinging to her uncle.

“Trash like her deserves it,” Dante said, handing me another slice of orange. “Next time anyone dares to bully you, just say the word. I’ll handle it.”

“Enough, Dante,” Luca warned.

Then he looked at me, his eyes gentle. “About the training program, Papa has already spoken to the academy. You don’t have to go back. Rest, recover your strength, and return only when you’re ready.”

I bit my lip.

“Luca, I want to go back.”

Silence fell.

Five pairs of eyes stared at me as if I had grown a second head.

“Baby, are you still running a fever?” Matteo asked. “Why would you put yourself through that again?”

“I’m serious.” I pushed myself up, fighting through the dizziness. “Reynolds was right about one thing. I can’t hide behind you forever.”

“I have you to protect me, but I need to be strong too.”

I didn’t want to cry every time I faced hardship. I didn’t want my weakness to drag my friends down.

I was a Rossi. I couldn’t bring shame to the Family.

Luca studied me for a long moment. Then, slowly, he smiled.

“There she is. That’s my girl.”

“You can go back, but only if the doctor clears you. Understood?”

With them taking such good care of me, I recovered quickly.

Nico practically moved into my hospital room, checking my medical chart like a drill instructor and scheduling every dose of medication. The others took turns looking after me, bringing books, snacks, and the latest updates on Reynolds’s steadily collapsing life.

By the time I was discharged, I felt like myself again.

Luca drove me back to St. Callum Academy.

He stopped the car at the gate and rolled down the window as I slung my backpack over my shoulder.

“Remember what I told you.” His voice was serious. “The Rossi Family doesn’t start fights. But we don’t back down from them either.”

“If anyone touches you again, don’t just take it. Fight back. I’ll handle the consequences.”

“I know, Luca. Thank you.”

I waved, then turned and walked back onto campus.

I had missed most of the program, but I joined the final week of training.

The new instructor was a former Marine, strict, fair, and meticulous. He pushed us hard, but he never crossed the line.

I stood tall, drenched in sweat and aching all over. But I never complained.

At the closing ceremony, the headmaster walked up to the podium.

“Former instructor Reynolds has been formally charged and taken into custody for criminal misconduct and embezzlement.”

“This academy maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward abuse of any kind.”

Thunderous applause erupted.

I stood among my classmates and smiled quietly.

Thank you, my brothers.

Afterward, Sophie and I walked toward the dining hall.

A disheveled middle-aged woman suddenly lunged out of nowhere and grabbed my arm.

“You’re Valentina Rossi, aren’t you? You vicious little bitch!”
