A Decade’s Betrayal Chapter 06

A Decade’s Betrayal Chapter 06

I had never once called Lucian like that.

So when the detached word “Mr. Vance” slipped from my lips, it visibly unsettled him. His brows knit

together, irritation flashing across his face.

He was about to speak when Victoria’s soft sobbing cut in.

“Mr. Vance… my head is spinning. Would you mind taking me to the hospital? Please.”

At once, his expression returned to that familiar cold indifference.

I let out a quiet, mocking breath and shook my head before turning and walking out of the restroom.

Ten years of love had finally come to an end.

I went straight back to Lucian’s villa, pulled out my suitcase, and began packing my things.

But no matter how I packed, everything that truly belonged to me barely filled two suitcases.

The rest of the items, the handbags, the jewelry, had all been chosen and purchased by Victoria. Every single

piece reflected her taste, not mine.

And then I saw it.

The men’s ring tucked away in the corner of the vanity.

My tears fell before I could stop them.

That ring had been my father’s keepsake. I had once given it to Lucian.

He had accepted it.

Yet I had never seen him wear it. Until one day, when I happened to enter his study and saw the ring tossed

into the trash, I knew then that there was no future for us.

After finishing packing, I dragged my suitcases downstairs.

Just as I reached the front door, I ran into Lucian returning home.

He frowned slightly when he saw me.

“What now, another dramatic exit? You pulled this stunt just days ago and came slinking back. Don’t you ever

get bored of your own theatrics?”

A cold laugh escaped me.

So the three days I had disappeared after my mother died had all been dismissed as me throwing a tantrum.

He had never called to check on me, and now I understood why.

When I returned, the mockery on his face suddenly made sense as well.

“Lucian,” I said, my voice eerily calm. “We’re over.”

At that moment, the rideshare arrived. I didn’t bother to look at how dark his expression had become.

I loaded my suitcases into the trunk and opened the car door.

Before I got in, Lucian called out to me coldly.

“Jessica, if you walk away this time, I won’t let you come back to me again. I will not allow you to challenge my limits over and over.”

I looked at him with open disdain.

“Lucian, I’d rather die than ever set foot near you again.”

With that, I got into the car and left without looking back.

As the shadows of trees slipped past the window and gradually disappeared, I knew that my ten–year Cinderella dream had finally shattered for good.
