He Punished Me for Erasing Her Ink, by Carving His Rage Into My Flesh Chapter 05

Adrian grabbed one of the men by the collar and roared, “Did you touch her? Where is she?”

The thought flashed through his mind like a blade.

How could anyone dare defile the woman he had treasured for ten whole years?

The laborer was not stupid. When he saw the expensive cut of Adrian’s suit, his attitude changed at once.

“Sir, this might be a misunderstanding,” he said quickly. “How about I take you to the woman we were talking about?”

With that, the two men led Adrian deeper into the alley.

They passed more than a dozen storefronts glowing with cheap neon lights.

The women standing outside took one look at Adrian’s expensive clothes, but his icy expression frightened them so badly that they recoiled.

After all, ordinary people rarely had the chance to rub shoulders with Harbor City’s highest circle.

Adrian clenched his trembling fists.

Secretly, he agonized.

What I did to her today was too much. I made the decision in a hurry without consulting her.

If the worst really happened, how would Claire face me afterward? How would she face herself? She was always so proud.

A few minutes later, the workers led Adrian to a newly renovated storefront.

They bowed obediently.

“Sir, the woman we mentioned is inside. Please, go in.”

Inside the shop, a woman in skimpy clothes was lying on a couch to rest.

Adrian reached out and yanked her up by the shoulder.

When he saw her face, the weight hanging over his heart finally dropped.

He gasped, “It’s not her.”

Then where was Claire?

Adrian stormed out and gave an order to his bodyguards.

“My wife is missing. I want her location in ten minutes.”

But no one expected what happened next.

Blackwell Holdings spent two hundred million dollars a year on its security team, gathering some of the sharpest specialists in all of Harbor City.

Yet they could not find the usually dignified and demure Mrs. Blackwell who had once stayed so carefully within the boundaries of his world.

Adrian tore apart the stack of documents his secretary handed him.

A vague suspicion had already begun to take shape in his mind.

He had Isla brought to him.

“The housekeeper said you were the last person to see my wife. I didn’t want to suspect you, but my men have searched everywhere.”

“Isla, you know something.”

Isla walked to Adrian’s side and gently held his arm.

“Claire’s family company went bankrupt. A lot of people were looking for them.”

“Her mother, that unfortunate woman, was already dead, so I thought I’d hand Claire over and let those people take revenge. Settling scores, I was doing it for the baby in my stomach too, earning us a little good karma.”

“Adrian, I’m already carrying your child. A woman like her, one who can’t even have a baby, doesn’t need to stay in the Blackwell family.”

The moment Adrian heard that, he crushed the glass in his hand.

He flung the shards toward Isla’s face.

“Who gave you the right to make that decision? Tell me where Claire is.”

“If she is hurt, I’ll make you endure a hundredfold pain.”

Isla covered her swollen cheek as tears fell.

Only then did she stop acting reckless and tell him the warehouse location.

“I only took Claire there,” she said, still pretending to be innocent. “I don’t know what happened after that.”

“The unpaid workers promised me they wouldn’t really do anything to her. At most, they said they would yell at her a little and let off some anger.”

But Adrian no longer believed a single word out of her mouth.

He drove to an abandoned Blackwell Holdings warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

The front door stood wide open.

Inside, the warehouse was empty.

Only a pool of blood remained on the floor.
