Divorced & Dying The Mafia Boss Regrets Everything Chapter 03

Henry reluctantly removed the extra chair.

Sienna looked at Grace, her face a mask of humiliation. She stood there awkwardly, a flash of resentment in her eyes.

The moment the secretary’s hand touched her arm, she let out a trembling scream and flung herself into Dominic’s arms.

Smack—

A heavy slap.

Henry’s glasses flew off, the lenses shattered on the floor, and he stumbled, nearly falling.

Anyone with eyes knew that slap was meant as a warning to Grace.

Finnegan’s face grew darker and darker, and he fell silent.

Dominic casually loosened his tie, walked slowly to his seat, and sat down. Then he pulled Sienna onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her.

“Dom… I’m scared…” Sienna choked out.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”

Dominic lowered his head and brushed his lips against her forehead, but out of the corner of his eye, he was watching Grace.

Grace kept her eyes straight ahead, flipping through the documents in her hands.

“If you’re going to cry, go home and do it. I don’t know who you’re putting on a show for.” Finnegan rolled his eyes.

Dominic looked away and gave him a disapproving glance. “Finnegan.”

“All right,” Grace finally said. “Thank you all for your hard work over the years.”

“I called this meeting to tell you that I’m leaving Clear Harbor.”

The room went dead silent. Finnegan stared at her in disbelief, sure he had misheard.

Grace tapped the paper on the desk twice, gave her instructions calmly and methodically, and had her secretary pass out the contract.

“From now on, no procedures or processes need to go through me. Direct all matters to Dominic.”

Finnegan took the contract with a frown. The more he read, the more alarmed he became. He urgently signaled Dominic to say something soft and keep her there.

Dominic just stared at her and gave a cold laugh.

“Fine. If you’ve got the guts, don’t ever set foot in Clear Harbor again starting tomorrow.”

He wanted to see what new trick she was playing this time.

Finnegan nearly bit his tongue off.

“Does the chairman know?” Finnegan asked gravely.

Grace said calmly, “He doesn’t need to know.”

She had never had any real affection for her grandfather, Benjamin.

If she hadn’t promised her aunt, she wouldn’t have given the old man a second glance.

The two people she had fought hardest against in her life were Dominic and her grandfather. That old man had systematically sidelined her and handed all the power to his own grandsons. If she hadn’t been ruthless enough, she would have died at their hands long ago.

A fortune teller once said she would have few close relatives and die alone. She hadn’t been wrong.

It just came a little early.

“But…”

“The meeting is adjourned.”

With that, Grace leaned back, tilted her head, and covered her eyes with her arm, giving them no chance to argue.

When she opened her eyes again, she was surprised to see Dominic still there.

She froze for a moment. Under his probing gaze, she stood up naturally—and suddenly everything went black.

She tensed for a second, then pretended nothing was wrong. “What’s the matter? Something else?”

“Name your price for the house in the Hamptons. Sienna likes it.”

Grace snapped to attention and wiped the faint smile off her lips. “No.”

“Dominic, you know how important that house is to me.”

He ignored the tremor in her voice, tossed down a black card, and said flatly, “There’s enough money in there to last you a lifetime after you leave the company. If it’s not enough, let me know. I’m not asking—I’m telling you.”

“…Dominic!”

Grace ground her teeth.

Just as the dizziness passed, she got a call from Carmela, the housekeeper.

Her voice was terrified and panicked. “Miss… a lot of people came. They’re smashing things!”

That house was the only thing left of her aunt Stephanie—and the place where she and Dominic had first slept together.

Grace slumped weakly against the desk. A thousand flies seemed to buzz in her ears, and everything went black again.

Dominic instinctively stepped forward, raising an eyebrow, a strange look in his eyes—like he was saying, Go on, keep pretending.

Grace looked up. A flash of savagery crossed her eyes, then she wavered and lost consciousness.
