My Don Mistook Survival for Greed Chapter 09

My Don Mistook Survival for Greed Chapter 09

After catching up on the morning’s missed work, I still made it to my afternoon class on time.

The second I walked in, I saw Dante already sitting next to the first-row seat I always took.

He’d sat there before, too.

But after we broke up, he never came back.

Now he was sitting there again.

It felt like some kind of sickness.

I wasn’t touched at all.

I was even annoyed that his stunt would drag me into new gossip.

He really is a disaster.

I avoided him as much as I could and walked straight to the last row.

Didn’t matter where I sat. I’d still be top 3 in the class.

Still, after class, Dante inevitably cornered me again.

From the classroom, to the cafeteria, all the way to the Marino’s Lincoln Park villa…

In the end, Mrs. Marino stepped in and stopped him for me.

Mrs. Marino told Julia to take me upstairs.

She stayed downstairs in the living room with Dante herself.

Before the door clicked shut, I still heard Mrs. Marino’s voice.

“Don Dante. Jason told me about you and Renee. That girl climbed out of hell by herself. Don’t drag her back into your little love games.”

Dante’s voice was thick with tears.

“Mrs. Marino-I know I was wrong! I know it now!”

The door clicked shut for good.

Julia handed me a mug of hot cocoa.

“Miss Renee! My math midterm scores went up! Mom gave me a big bonus. This hot chocolate is on

me.”

That kid’s smile was so sweet.

I ruffled her hair.

“You’re amazing.”

Mrs. Marino and Dante’s voices were locked outside the room. I couldn’t see Dante crying.

And I didn’t hear Mrs. Marino say. “Dante. Not all mistakes can be forgiven.”
