The Arms Dealer Gave My Only Antidote To Her Chapter 07

Mack stood at the door, voice breaking. “Boss, before she passed… she sent a timed email to her lawyer.

Full estate donation trust, cremation with no service, ashes in the Pacific near Big Sur. No memorial, no

funeral.”

Declan held Sloane’s body. His whole body was rigid. Dead silence in his eyes.

“No.”

His voice was hoarse but absolute.

“No. She’s my wife. Everything she has is mine. I won’t let her scatter her ashes in the Pacific. I won’t let

her leave me like this.”

“Boss, her electronic signature is already valid. Legally-”

“Legally?”

Declan’s head snapped up. His eyes were bloodshot. A wild animal.

“I am the law here. Keep her here. Nobody touches her.”

He sat on the edge of the bed, holding her, not moving. From midnight to dawn. Sunlight came through the window and fell on her white face, but it couldn’t warm her cold skin.

He just held her, stroking her hair, her cheek, replaying every moment of eight years. Young love, the jungle survival, then the slow cold distance. Every memory cut him like a knife.

He finally understood. Tessa was never real-just his guilt projected onto a stranger’s face. Sloane was the one carved into his bones. The one who walked through his darkest nights.

He gave his guilt to a stranger. And he gave his cruelty to the woman who loved him most.

He killed his own light.

After a while, his phone rang. Tessa.

Declan looked at the name. No warmth. Only murder.

He answered. His voice came from somewhere below hell.

“Mr. Kane, I’m so scared. When are you coming back to be with me?” Tessa’s sweet, fake voice, full of practiced hurt.

“Tessa.”

Declan’s voice had no emotion at all-which made her blood freeze.

“Sloane is dead. Because of you. She’s dead.”

A long silence. Then Tessa’s panicked rush: “Mr. Kane, I didn’t mean to. I didn’t know that serum was her only lifeline. I-”

“Shut up.”

Declan cut her off. Bloodlust in his eyes.

“You wormed your way in. You copied my dead sister’s whole look. You tried to come between me and Sloane. You took the medicine that was keeping her alive. You really thought I wouldn’t figure it out?”

He’d known something was off about Tessa. He just chose not to see it. Now Sloane was dead because of her. And every bit of leniency turned into cold hate.

“Mr. Kane, I’m sorry. Please forgive me-”

“Forgive you?”

Declan laughed. The laugh was pure cruelty.

“Who showed Sloane any mercy? She’s lying there and she’s never waking up. You think I’ll go easy on

you?”
