The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot Chapter 42

Seeing that Sylvie was still hesitating to step forward, Nova smiled and asked, “Sylvie, does your family own The Crestwood Villa? It looks massive.”

Her seemingly innocent question immediately backed Sylvie into a corner.

The villa didn’t belong to her at all. It was just a vacation home that the real Sutton family rarely visited.

The only reason she had the keys this time was because the actual Sutton family was traveling abroad. She had begged her father-the family’s chauffeur-to pull some strings with the housekeeper to borrow them.

But now, the eyes of every single classmate were glued to her.

Watching Nova hand out handfuls of lavish gifts, Sylvie gritted her teeth and forced a nod. “Y-yeah, it’s my family’s.”

“With a house this huge, why aren’t there any maids around?”

Nova’s follow-up question left Sylvie completely stumped.

Just getting the keys had been a miracle; where on earth was she supposed to find a maid on such short notice?

The other classmates started to find it strange too.

“Yeah, Sylvie. Not only are there no housekeepers, but there’s no security either. Who normally takes care of a property this big?”

Thinking on her feet, Sylvie quickly blurted out, “Oh, that… that’s because everyone was coming over to hang out! I gave them all the day off. I didn’t want them ruining our vibe.”

Seeing that Sylvie had found an excuse, Nova feigned a look of distress. “But we’re all starving. If there’s no staff, who’s going to cook for us?”

“I’ll be cooking for everyone myself, of course.”

Sylvie was actually quite confident in her culinary skills.

Seeing that no one had any objections, Nova’s eyes curved into a sweet smile as she continued, “Having you cook for us is wonderful! I’ve heard that massive enterprises like The Sutton Family eat nothing but lobster and caviar, imported Wagyu beef, and foie gras every single day. I’ve been dying to try it! Sylvie, since we came all this way, you must have prepared all of that for us, right?”

Lobster and caviar? Wagyu and foie gras?

Where the hell was she supposed to get any of that?

Before Sylvie could even open her mouth, the rest of the classmates eagerly chimed in

“Yeah, Sylvie! Nova already gave us all these expensive gifts. We want to taste some high-society delicacies too! You aren’t going to hold out on us, are you?”

“What are you talking about? Our Sylvie is the heiress of The Sutton Family! It’s just one meal; why would she hold out on us? It’s not like that stuff is rare to her, right, Sylvie?”

Hearing this, all the color drained from Sylvie’s face.

She had only prepared some cheap barbecue skewers, planning to use the charcoal grill outside tonight. But now that Nova had placed her on such a high pedestal, how could she possibly admit the truth?

When Sylvie didn’t answer, Nova simply stood up. “I’m sure you have it all prepped. Let me go check out what kind of amazing ingredients you have waiting in the kitchen!”

Saying that, Nova began to walk toward the kitchen. Panicking, Sylvie immediately blocked her path. Forcing a stiff twitch of her lips, she stammered, “You guys came a long way, so of course I prepared the best! But… the ingredients are still on their way. If we’re going to eat, it has to be completely fresh, right?”

The classmates nodded enthusiastically, completely buying into the promise of a feast.

Nova, however, simply raised an eyebrow.

Fresh seafood delivered deep into the mountains?

It was obvious Sylvie had absolutely nothing prepared.

She couldn’t wait to see how Sylvie was going to dig herself out of this mess.
