The Loser Ex-Wife Came Back Hot Chapter 29

Mrs. Donald couldn’t even be bothered to acknowledge the woman. She simply guided Alaric toward their car.

Nova saw that Alaric’s fever was burning out of control. After taking that vicious slap from Mrs. Langdon, he was already teetering on the edge of consciousness.

She recalled how, in her past life, Alaric had been found by The Garrison Family and eventually inherited control of their empire. Over the years that followed, he had engaged in an all-out, ruthless corporate war against Caleb. Now, it was obvious that the deep-seated hatred stemmed from the relentless abuse he suffered at the Langdons’ hands.

Nova said, “Mom, his fever is way too high. We need to take him to the hospital immediately.”

“Yes, to the hospital.”

Having been rattled by the chaotic confrontation, Mrs. Donald quickly snapped back to her senses and instructed the driver, “Clark, hurry, drive to the hospital.”

“Right away, ma’am.”

Mrs. Donald looked with sheer heartache at Alaric, who had slumped into Nova’s arms. “This poor boy hasn’t had a mother since he was little, and he’s had to endure such a hellish life at the Langdon house. It’s truly tragic.”

“Mom, from now on, Alaric is family. With us backing him, no one will ever dare lay a finger on him again.”

Hearing her daughter’s resolute words, Mrs. Donald nodded with immense relief. “I was worried you wouldn’t be okay with this. You really are wonderful, Nova.”

How could Nova not be okay with it?

Completely aside from the monumental power Alaric would hold in the future, he had already helped her time and time again. She could never stand by and watch him continue to suffer in that house.

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Mr. Donald let out a heavy sigh. He never could have imagined Mrs. Langdon would be so depraved as to brutally abuse a child.

He had been close friends with Alaric’s father for years. There was no way he could just

abandon his old friend’s son to such torment.

Mr. Donald turned around. “Nova, I had the staff prep the bedroom right next to yours for Alaric. Keep a close eye on him. The boy has become entirely too isolated, and it’ll make him an easy target in the outside world.”

“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll take great care of him.”

Mr. Donald smiled, deeply touched.

His Nova was so compassionate and mature. She truly was the best daughter a man could ask for.

Deep into the night, inside the private hospital room, Mr. and Mrs. Donald went down to handle the admission paperwork, leaving Nova to watch over Alaric’s bedside.

Alaric was burning up. His temperature had spiked to 102 degrees. The slap he had taken was vicious; the entire left side of his face was not only swollen red, but also bore three distinct, bloody claw marks.

It wasn’t until the doctor thoroughly cleaned and treated the wounds that his face finally began to look slightly better.

“Mom…”

Alaric’s voice was hoarse and parched. In his feverish delirium, he desperately grabbed onto a soft, delicate hand.

The hand was cool and comforting, seeming to drive away the suffocating heat burning from

within him.

Suddenly, Alaric’s eyes snapped open. Nova jumped in surprise at his abrupt awakening. “You’re awake?”

It was strange. The doctor had explicitly stated his fever was dangerously high and the IV drip would take a full hour. He wasn’t supposed to wake up until morning, which was why her parents felt safe leaving to handle the paperwork.

When Alaric didn’t speak, Nova gently touched his forehead. Feeling that he was still burning up, she explained, “Your fever is really high, so we brought you to the hospital. My parents just went to get you admitted. We’ll be able to go home first thing in the morning.”

Hearing the word ‘home’, Alaric’s eyes grew shadowed.

Nova quickly clarified, “To my home. You never have to step foot in the Langdon house ever again!”

Alaric stared at her, stunned.

It was obvious the high fever was clouding his mind, and his consciousness hadn’t fully returned.

He had completely blacked out the intense confrontation outside the Langdon estate.

Right then, Mr. and Mrs. Donald walked into the room. Seeing that Alaric was awake, Mrs. Donald rushed to his side, her voice brimming with maternal warmth. “Alaric, just rest here in the hospital. Tomorrow morning, my husband and I will take you home. I’ve already called

the school to excuse your absences. You won’t go back to class until you’re completely healed.”
