The Wedding Red Sheet Became My Death Parachute Chapter 08

The Wedding Red Sheet Became My Death Parachute Chapter 08

Grant had been pushed to the edge.

Bank demands, court summons, and suspended medical treatments-every single thing was forcing him to cough up money he didn’t have.

Like a rabid dog, he began to bite at anything in sight.

Late that night, as I was preparing to turn in, the security alarm for the house popped up on my phone.

I checked the feed; two men in masks and baseball caps were suspiciously picking the lock on my

front door.

My heart tightened, and I immediately dialed 911.

Then, I quietly retreated into the bedroom and locked the door.

Faint picking sounds came from the door, and before long, the front entrance was forced open.

The two men stepped lightly into the living room and began ransacking the place.

“Find the bitch’s laptop and files, quick! Grant said if we destroy the evidence, we get ten grand!”

one of them whispered.

I heard them clearly.

As expected, it was Grant Sterling’s doing.

He actually had the audacity to hire people for a break-in.

I sat on the bed, clutching my pepper spray, waiting calmly.

In less than five minutes, the roar of sirens echoed from below.

Piercing police lights illuminated the entire neighborhood.

The two thieves panicked, but it was too late to run.

The police breached the door and pinned them to the ground.

I walked out of the bedroom.

“Officers, these two committed a home invasion, and their employer is a man named Grant

Sterling”.

The two thieves, terrified at the station, sang like canaries.

They didn’t just give up Grant; they confessed that it was Amber Vance who had come up with the

plan from her hospital bed.

The next day, Grant Sterling was led out of his office in handcuffs.

Hearing the news, I bought an iced Americano and took a leisurely stroll to the hospital

Amber was still wailing in her bed.

When she saw me walk in, she recoiled toward the corner of the bed.

“Evelyn! What did you do to Grant?!”

I took a sip of my coffee and looked at her with a smile.

“Nothing much, just sent him in to have some tea with the authorities. Oh, and I let them know that the charges for hiring people to commit a felorry break-in are officially moving forward”.

Amber’s face turned ghostly white, her lips trembling.

“You’re lying! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

I leaned in closer and lowered my voice.

“Amber, do you know why I didn’t release the original video of you swapping the parachute packs

right away?”

She snapped her head up, staring at me in terror.

“Because I wanted to wait. Wait for your wounds to fester, wait for your money to run out, and wait

for everyone around you to abandon you. I wanted to give you the fatal blow only when you were at your most desperate”.

I pulled out my phone and, right in front of her, sent the full, unedited video to the police and the

media.

In the video, her malicious face was exposed for the world to see.

Amber screamed in despair, reaching out to grab my phone.

I stepped back, watching coldly as her sudden exertion tore at her broken leg, leaving her writhing on the bed in agony.

“Enjoy your last moments of freedom. Soon, you’ll be lying down in a much smaller room”.

Just as I turned to leave, my phone rang.

It was an unknown number.

I picked it up, and Grant’s dark, brooding voice came through.

“Evelyn, did you really think you won?”

I froze for a second. Hadn’t Grant been arrested? How was he calling me?

Grant laughed maniacally on the phone.

“I’m telling you, I got out! And I have Daisy with me. You get five million in cash ready right now and drop all the lawsuits! Or I’m taking your daughter with me off the edge of a roof!”

My heart leaped into my throat.

I had given up on that thankless child, but she was still a human being. Had Grant gone completely insane? To kill his own daughter?
