He Gave His Password To Her And Lost His Future Chapter 01

He Gave His Password To Her And Lost His Future Chapter 01

Right after SAT scores dropped, I stumbled across a trending Reddit post that had completely blown up overnight.

[Who says a community college girl can’t date an MIT guy? If long distance is the problem, just withdraw his acceptance offer.]

The comments were absolute chaos.

[No way this is real. Somebody drop the tutorial for turning from “community college girlfriend” into “future MIT wife.”]

OP replied:

[Why would I change? I made him change.]

[Holy hell. You’re insane. Your boyfriend’s literally going to murder you.]

OP:

[He’s obsessed with me. You really think some Ivy League fantasy matters more than I do?]

[Cap. There’s no way this actually happened.]

OP replied with a screenshot.

[Take a good look.]

I tapped the image.

Two screenshots from a college application portal filled the screen side by side.

The first showed:

[MIT – Admission Confirmed]

The second had changed to:

[Withdrawal Processed]

And beneath it sat a completed enrollment form for a local community college.

My stomach dropped.

“Who the hell is unlucky enough for this to happen…?”

Then my eyes landed on the name.

[Julian Everett.]

The boy who’d spent all four years of high school grinding beside me so we could make it to Boston together.

The boy who promised we’d get into MIT together someday.

The thread kept updating in real time.

[Next week’s my boyfriend’s birthday. I’m giving this to him as a surprise gift. Don’t any of you DM him and ruin it.]

[Girl, I hope your “surprise” doesn’t end with him having a psychotic break.]

[I NEED to see his face when he realizes his MIT spot is gone. Please livestream it.]

OP replied:

[I will 🙂 You guys are finally gonna see that “elite school futures” mean nothing in front of real love.]

I reopened the screenshot and zoomed in so hard my hands started shaking.

Name. Birthday. Applicant ID.

Every detail matched.

It really was Julian.

Julian, who’d solved SAT prep books with me until two in the morning. Julian, who’d gone through endless summer programs, competitions, and research projects with me because we both wanted MIT more than anything.

My body moved before my brain caught up.

I was already calling him.

“Pick up,” I whispered under my breath. “Come on, pick up…”

He finally answered on the tenth call.

Before I could even speak, Julian’s sleepy, irritated voice came through the speaker.

“Vivienne Winslow, what the hell do you want? It’s barely morning. Why are you spam-calling me like somebody died?”

Just a few days ago, he’d ditched our college essay editing session to take Hazel Whitlock to a party. We’d had a massive fight over it.

We still weren’t speaking properly.

But none of that mattered right now.

A smug edge slipped into his voice.

“Heh. Knew you’d cave first.”

“Where’s Hazel Whitlock?” I asked immediately. “Julian, did you give her your College Board and application portal passwords? Do you even realize what she…”

A bright, sugary voice cut me off.

“Why do you care?”

Hazel leaned closer to the phone.

“Just because you grew up with him doesn’t mean you own him. Seriously, why don’t you become his college counselor already?”

Julian laughed softly. I could practically picture him rubbing the back of her neck while calming her down.

“It’s fine,” he said lazily. “Vivienne’s probably just checking which school I picked. She’s been attached to me like a shadow since we were kids.”

Hazel snorted.

“You’re my boyfriend. So what if I know your passwords? She’s just jealous because we’re closer than she’ll ever be.”

Suddenly, I didn’t want to say another word.

I just sat there gripping my phone, listening to them flirt.

It was seven in the morning.

Why they were together that early, what they’d been doing, none of it needed explaining.

After eighteen years by Julian’s side, I’d somehow become the outsider. Worse, the bitter ex-best-friend ruining the mood.

“So, anything else?” Julian asked. “If not, I’m hanging up. I still need to make Hazel breakfast.”

Then his tone sharpened.

“And Vivienne? I know you’ve always looked down on her because she goes to some crappy public school, but maybe try being less judgmental for once. I’m done listening to you trash her.”

It felt like someone dumped ice water over my head.

All the panic and desperation burning inside me vanished instantly.

“Did you hear me?” he asked impatiently.

I said nothing.

I hung up.

Julian’s future had nothing to do with me anymore.

If he wanted to throw away MIT for Hazel Whitlock and a community college, then fine.

Let him.
