The Wedding Red Sheet Became My Death Parachute Chapter 05

The intense airflow made my face sting.

I counted the my head.

Ten, nine, eight…

Just as I prepared to pull my own ripcord, a white silk flower bloomed below me.

At the very last second, Amber had finally found the handle for her reserve chute.

The reserve snapped open with a loud thud.

The massive jolt brought her body to a sudden halt in mid-air.

But I could see clearly that because the chute opened so late, her descent was still dangerously fast.

Moreover, the reserve chute swayed uncontrollably in the strong winds.

I calmly pulled my own ripcord.

My parachute opened steadily, allowing me to glide smoothly.

I adjusted my direction, intentionally flying toward the area where Amber was drifting.

Just then, a dull thud echoed from below.

Followed by the sharp crack of breaking branches.

Amber, along with her chute, slammed directly into a dense patch of trees at the edge of the landing

zone.

The reserve chute got caught in the high branches, while she hit a thick trunk with full force before

sliding to the ground.

Her screams pierced the sky.

“My leg! My leg is broken!”

I landed steadily on the safe grass nearby,

I unbuckled my pack and began tidying my gear with deliberate slowness,

Before long, Grant and the instructor landed as well.

… (1)

He didn’t even bother with his daughter; he threw off his pack and sprinted toward the woods like a

madman.

“Amber! Amber, where are you?!”

I followed with a cold smirk.

In the woods, Amber was writhing on the ground in agony.

One of her legs was bent at a grotesque angle, bone piercing through her leggings, blood

everywhere.

Her face was covered in gashes from the branches, and her hair was a matted mess-she looked like a ghost.

“Grant… it hurts… help me…”

Grant dropped to his knees beside her, his hands hovering over her, afraid to touch her.

“Hang on, Amber! The ambulance is coming!”

When he saw me walking over, the pity in his eyes turned into pure rage.

He lunged up, trying to grab my throat.

“You bitch! I’ll kill you! You did this!”

I was ready. I delivered a hard kick to his knee.

Grant cried out in pain and collapsed onto one knee before me.

I looked down at him.

“Grant, watch your mouth. You’re accusing me of foul play where’s your proof?”

Grant pointed at the sobbing Amber on the ground, his teeth gritted.

“That bedsheet was supposed to be for YOU! Why did Amber end up with it? You switched them!”

I let out a short, sharp laugh,

“Oh? Admitting it then? Admitting you intentionally swapped my parachute for a bedsheet to

murder me?”

Grant’s face paled. He realized he had slipped up.

His eyes darted around as he began to scramble for an excuse.

“Bullshit! I don’t know anything about a bedsheet! You were just jealous of Amber and framed her!”

Amber joined in the wailing from the ground.

“Evelyn… what did I ever do to you… why are you so cruel…”

The club staff and security reached the scene, drawn by the commotion.

Daisy ran over, hugging Grant’s leg and pointing at me while shouting.

“Bad Mommy! You pushed Auntie Amber out of the plane! You’re a murderer! I’m telling the police to take you away!”

Looking at this child, who was now utterly ruined, the last shred of my maternal love vanished.

The staff called 911 immediately.

The police arrived quickly and cordoned off the area.

Grant pointed at me, tearfully accusing me to the officers.

“Officer, it was her! She tampered with my friend’s parachute! She tried to kill her!”

The officer turned to me with a stern expression.

“Ma’am, we need you to come down to the station for questioning.”

I nodded calmly.

“Of course. But before we go, I think everyone should see something.”

I pulled out my phone and played the video I had recorded in the equipment room.

The footage projected clearly for everyone to see.

In the video, Amber was sneaking into my locker, ripping out my parachute, and stuffing in that red

silk sheet.

She was even cursing me to become a “smear on the pavement” while she did it.

The crowd went deathly silent as the video finished.

Grant’s eyes widened, his face turning ghostly white.

Amber stopped screaming, and froze, looking as if she had seen a ghost.
